kunjufu i know your question was not neccessarily directed at me, but i thought i might add my two cents

the colour hue imagery is important when looking at religion from a european perspective. think prior to the age europeanisation when everything was saw how it should be this would not have been an issue. european artist at some point came to the conclusion that they wanted everything seen through their eyes and therefore depict holy scriptures in their own light thus removing all. think. christianity began in the east so it would have been unlikely to have seen that many pale skin people in and around that region. the so called images of Jesus etc are romanticised european interpretations. what do black people do to see Jesus in our own light we darken the colour of his skin and in some case give him locs. so whose depiction is correct. a fairer representation would have shown Jesus with and avergae hue that is in teh middle of all skin tones of the world.

mel gibsons film seems not to deviate from that of european preference. he is white and all the characrters are likened to his own reflection. the question should be what exactly is he trying to say. i have a heritage bible that points out issues such as colour etc. during Jesus' time he was with people of varying hues, no one was more prevalent than any other.

what is an issue more so is that europeans continue to feel that it is neccessary to exclude all other races from the source of us all and that is God. remember europeans like romans see themselves as the superior whilsty scripture teaches us thatWE areALL made in HIS image
