@blaqguhwrote If you are looking at outside appearence or environmental situations to determine whom you will marry than you are limiting yourself greatly. My boyfriend is Nigerian and his people gave me a very hard time about being an Africa-American woman. They saw that I was am a child of God and have a very big heart. This is what you look at because I promise...just like Lauryn Hill said..."what you want might make you cry, what you need might pass you by..if you don't catch it.... what you need, ironically, will turn to what you want it to be...if you just let it.." You have successfully decieved yourself. It's okay though..to each his own I guess.

The answer is in the second part of my post that you commented on

"There are lots of good girls out there and bad ones, I personally prefer and am attracted to Brown Skin girls.............it is my preference, but obviously it has to be a good one. I open my eyes wide and I know what I like, it aint any slave or whatever mentality. It is just a personal choice. "

The "Good one" has all these other Qualities, not just the outside appearence. It is true that I am in someways limiting my options, yes it makes it harder,, but you will still find a good brown skin girl who is Godly, nice, beautiful, good personalities etc.

Hurricane...I have to say..I love your spirit...however...the light vs dark thing..IS very real...dark skinned women are only now starting to be celebrated in the media....though they have always been some of the most beautiful women on earth... the light vs. dark thing dates back to slavery days if someone hasn't schooled you on that already. PS. If it makes you feel any better, I am highly attracted to dark skinned men. My father is light skinned, my mother is brown but the only positive male model in my life was my brother who is a dark skinned man. I don't know why but I loooooooooove charcoal black brothers. It seems that dark skinned brothers appreciate me. I am a light brown but I wish I was black as tar though because I LOOOVE Dark skin. I also love foreign men. Go figure, I am engaged to a Nigerian! That has always been my preference. God bless you.

First, let me say I like the way you have put your point across, if everyone debates in this sort of friendly way, there will be no need for bashing, name calling etc. I agree with nearly all of what you have written, but even some places where people haven't really learnt a lot or anythingabout slavery, they still have their preference. It may have happened during the slave trade, but I would doubt if it started then. I agree that there is some dark skin vs light skin, but I think it is been exaggerated. Also it is not a problem in Nigeria anyway, so I don't really care what happens in the Uk neither am I influenced by their media.

PS Why is everyone Engaged to a Nigerian? Maybe we have a lot of good men out there. I am glad that despite all the negative stuffout there, some women still findNigerian men out there attractive. I was readingon a websitecouple of days ago, where someone was asking people for money to help them, the person gave little or no clueof who he is. yet many people on the site came to the conclusion that he is a Nigerian scamer. How did they know he is Nigerian? I am not denying the fact the some Nigerians do engage in all these sort of activities, but not everyone is into all these rubbish. Glad that some people still trust us. God bless you Sisterniceone.gif
