Ok I would like to talk about my man peter, Peter (taxi driver Mo bay area), i'm sure he won't mind me telling you that he is NOT a rich man. we met Peter outside of the hotel, he reversed and asked us if we wanted a cab. I have to be honest and tell you that his car aint much to look at, and I wasn't really sure about him..

He quoted a decent price and we jumped in, and went to Mo Bay, on the way Peter told us the latest goings on in Jamaica and the latest news, he warned us what part of town to aviod and to be careful of certain people, he even took us to a bank to change money.

When we asked him to return and pick us up at 16:30 in a very busy Mo bay, he was dead and I mean dead on time. We used him quite a few times after that, now this man who barely had two dollars to rub together was always embarrassed to even quote us a price much less take our money.. Can you believe that? becausehe saw us asfriends he would always under quote the actual fare, obviously we gave him the going rate plus tip, but I think this just epitomises the man proud and nuh beggy beggy.

He happily droves us around Mo bay, took us to Rose Hall, helped me get some fantastic deals on some Yard music and he even can you believe it helped me to change some money by using his Id, when i had none..He liked his music but wasn't into slack music..he introduced me to Jah Cure, whom I must confess i'd never heard of..

Anyway on the last day when i arrived at the airport ready to fly home, can you believe that my luggage got left at the hotel. So you can imagine the panick less than three hours to check in and me nuh know weh mi bag deh...

Who do I see as i rush out of Mo bay Airport looking for a Cab to tek mi back to the Hotel, but Peter, man he drove like Micheal schumacher going to and coming back and I believe he would have done it for nothing too.. He apparently had been hanging around the Airport looking out for us, and had been working since early morning to raise enough money to send his children back to school with new clothes.

All i can say is that Peter is a real good example of what Jamaica is about and I have to say he wasn't an isolated incident either, i met many good people in a land where people seh only badness live.. Peter is why i love my people so....and why i love being part of the African family...
