Bob Norburn was able to pay £8,000 for cryotherapy, which has a 98% success rate, and has received an all clear. The NHS refused to pay because it wasn’t NICE approved (i.e., it costs a lot). Those with access to money can buy life-saving treatment — the poor are left to die. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1371453,00.html

Only one thing wrong with the perception that may be read into the above...

Then at age 56 I get diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and the NHS tells me that I can either have "any prize off the bottom shelf" for that read the {cheap} slice and dice surgery that leaves men impotent and incontinent, or if I want better treatement {that won't leave me pissing down my leg for the rest of my natural} then I have to pay for it myself... tell me what you'd do.

I'm just a regular working class bloke {if you want to check my "integrity" do a Google for "Norburn Fleet"}. I had to spend most ofwhat I'd saved for a half decent pension, now that's gone, but I {for at least me wife's sake} am still here.

Surely an old socialist is worth 8 grand, even if it's out of his own pocket !

This AINT a case of the "rich" getting something that the workers can't have, this worker was {maybe} lucky enough to pay to save his own life, but it came out of my own pocket.

Yet having said that, the rich can easily avail themselves to better treatments, why do you guys think I'm kicking up so much of a fuss about it, check out...

The only option after the fact was to embarrass the B*stards by taking my story to the media, that and to appeal the decision of Bolton PCT {for that think Area Health Authority}, to try to get my saving back, wish me luck lads, I'll need it.

If any of you think it might be my turn to get some support, I'd appreciate an e-mail being sent in to the Bolton Evening News.

I agree with your sentiment Coltrane, but this time you were on the wrong horse.
