@ORGNLEGYPTN
Actually believe it or not…….in the military, you can say what you want, about what you want, were you want, and how you want it.

As long as.
1. You are not compromising military secrets or operation security (OPSEC)
2. You are not doing, or saying it in uniform.

There is no Federal Law that makes free speech illegal…….not even for members of the military.

Yall should have fun with that last line.

Secondly,

By saying a scout/sniper is a coward one could assume that you believe we should all line up in rows and shoot at each other through open fields like the revolutionary war and the battle tactics of old England.

Or as in Iraq, we should stand out in the middle of the street while enemy snipers pick off American warriors one by one.

You characterization of a sniper is flowed, as you do no understand what the job of a sniper is................I'll educate you.

I've was trying to think of th earliest account of snipers.....I found Chaka Zulu. Chaka Zulu was a military genious...but by your explaination he was a coward.

He started out with 500 men and trained up to 600,000 skilled fighters. Actually his was an early case of the model of Western Boot camps...but in order for him to defeat Napoleon he had to change tactics. He knew there was no way he could defen against Napoleons cannons......so he hid.

First he banned the use of rifles. He knew there was no way to win with them, and he also knew the time it took to load and re-fire.

He used he the "BuIl Horn" formation. The main body of soldiers and the reinforcements were in the centre, and the two forward flanks were used to enclose the enemy. Chaka used to place spies in a territory months be fore he made an attack. His war Motto was "Death or Victory".

Connection to Scouts/Snipers.....(snipers hide)......when Napoleon began to advance he had look-outs positioned to the front, rear, and sides. (scouts). The passed by word to the main body (LP/OP Scouts). Chaka’s men had to remain hidden, he did not want his enemy to know the number of his forces....when the troops fired with their rifles.....he would then have his men rush in from hidden positions and attack. Attacking from conceiled positions

The job of a sniper is not to kill (bet you didn’t know that)………but I will educate you.

A snipers job is a look, and report. Now since he moves alone, usually DEEP in enemy territory (far from being a coward) he has to be able to protect himself. He has to reamin hidden. If a sniper is found....he's dead. That is why he can only take 1 shot.

BAM

The first shot......whether it hits or not...alerts the enemy. Now he is looking for the sniper.

BAM

Second shot.....he found the sniper, and the sniper will be killed.

So he is trained a skilled fighter. Not just with a rifle but with knives and his hands……

So too where Chaka’s “spies

Chaka was a military genius...and a great warrior...who used scouts (snipers). His men were the most fear warriors of their time. Many believe that had Chaka not beeen killed y his brother, South Africa would have never been touched by white hands.

But I see that you would liken him to a coward.

*shrugz* to each his own.

Everyone has the right to an opinion, just make sure you opinion is an educated one.
