It is very rear for me to converse with those considered to have not yet reach the same level of maturity and development as myself. However as you appear to have taken my comments personally, let me say…… I happen to agree with Ghetto fab that this is a stupid and pointless thread.
If you are keen to discuss issues relevant to the black experience as you say you are then lets be more positive. None of this “black women are threatened by other races generalization / nonsensical bull***t. That is kindergarten stuff > so why should it become a topic of debate unless you are at the same intellectual level as the author?
Some of us have moved on and left all that crap behind years ago. We are more self-assured, progressive and optimistic that ever before. We know where we came from and where we are going. We are leaders and pioneers of our generation and feel threatened by no one. Please read Dr Haynes, A. ( 1996) The state of Black Britain 1983 - 2003 Hansib, London.
From the tone and content of your reply…I would be disappointed to learn you have advanced in years much beyond puberty.
Good Day and sleep well.

(((SIGH)))) Talk a LOT, your name is quite appropriate, you talk a lot and don't read much and say even less. You agree with GhettFab huh? Well , GhettoFAb is the originator of this trash topic. That is why her original post is edited out because it was ignorant, offensive inflammatory generalizing as you should have read in the title. Some of us turned this around by not taking the bait and discussing issues that really matter and are really real.
Please READ my former posts... At no time did I come off as negative , except when I was addressing the original posters ignorant, and inflammatory topic presentation, GEE I guess I have to be real specifice too. OOPS I meant SOME women can be mean based on feelings of jealousy and they can be of any race:PSOME black people can be detrimentalin teachingyoung girls confidence in themselves as African diasporic women. My point was it is ridicoulous for anyone to feel threatened by someone of another race, but it is notfarfetched to say that some people do feel threatened by someone who is somehow different, it is notfarfetched to say that alot of young black girls aresuffering fromnegative self-image and are being taught thatnegativity at home. I amaddressing a real issue and looking for solutionsnot sticking my head in the sand and saying oh, we have progressed.... there is not and issue. There was no debate about the original postersinflammatory topic.WE were having a discussionon the uplifiting of young black women.Wehave a websitethat I belong to called NAPPTURALITY Ifwe were so progressive overall as you say wewould have noneed for a website that provides support forwomen who have choose to wear the hair naturally. We have women from all over the world that post there regularly and we all have issues that are related to being a black woman in the diaspora that we come to one another for support and encouragement and solutions. That is a small example of some larger issues in our community thatneed addressing.Nevertheless, though most of this thread went downhill from there all was not lost, some very good and positive points were made to counteract the crap. Why is that you are focusing on the negative? HOW MUCH DID YOU REALLY CONTRIBUTE TOWARD THE POSITIVE?Imade some points in agreement with another poster about some solutions to real issues in our community. I don't need to read a book to see that some of my people are suffering (particularly the children) from intraracial prejudice, overall stereotyping, racism and various other forms of destructive forces in society. Yet, you come in generalizingand insulting other members with the knuckleheadcomment about everyones lack of intelligence. Funny, you say how intelligent you are and recommend books to read when you obviously do not read and think about or analyze anything your dam self. HI POT....I AM KETTLE YOU IS BLACK. LOL!I do not know the racial climate in Britain, butI have a friend who is living there and they say it is not that much different from the United States. The racial climate can be a bit tense here. self-assured and optimistic huh?, Guess what I can't tell you have to keep saying how much more intelligent and enlightened you are than everyone else, trying to convince someone eh, well it ain't working cause you do not read shet. Just because you have arrived does not mean that you don't come back and try to educate and uplift those who have not yet,but you think you are to good for that. I still feel I have a lot to learn. Yet, The book you recommendedis irrelevant to the issue we aredisussingright now. Besides, I am in the United States. At any rate, I am still learning more and more about my history, my current life and myself. I am not above growth, to hear you tell it you have alreadygrown and have no more room for growthLOL! So be it then I guess you would have no need for this book but I will suggest a few for you to read as well in relation to the topic at hand such as Phyllis Chessler'sWOMANS INHUMANITY TO WOMANis excellent as well as "STOLEN WOMEN" by DR> GAIL WYATT or DON"T PLAY IN THE SUN by MARITA GOLDEN> or SHIFTING by CHARISSE JONES AND KUMEA SHORTERThe black community still needs all the help it can get, uh oh .... ducking and dodging tomatoes and insults *wink wink* I will dare to generalize there. There are many progressive and accomplished black people . Their accomplishmentsREALLY matter if they stop to help those who are not so fortunate . You or anyone else including myself are not beyond reproach, GET A GRIP.
These books are an excellent research and discussion as well as provider of introspective solutions in regards to the black woman and how she has defined herself and been effected by stereoptypes and racial prejudice throughout history and it basically proves thatthreehundred years plus of oppression and assault is not going to go away just like that, We must work on that one day at a time Talking about it is a good start. Even though your bookdoesn't appear to have anything to do with the topic I am discussing, I will read your book any way...I love to read. and I do notfeel thatIam above any one in any area just because I have experienced more growth in any given area. AS for you I still say your neck must be very sore craning to see us "LITTLE PEOPLE " FROM YOUR VERY HIGH HORSE.
acting like no one should say there is a problem and address it, sweeping shet under the rug and pretending it doesn't exist that is hella stupid .mad-moonie
WELL < ANYWAY I HAVE GROWN QUITE TIRED OF THIS BACK AND FORTH< I HAVE SOME REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS ON MY AGENDA AND I HAVE BEEN QUITE BUSY TODAY........... ((((YAWN)))) I AM GOING TO SLEEEP>niceone.gif and I am done posting in this thread. GOOD BYE.
