I believe it means that however you die, in whatever the belief or mindset that you hold to, the deeds you have done, the things you have said, if you have repented or not, if you sin or didn't sin. When the life leaves the body that is your end. It is from here that God will judge us. No amount of praying, catholics believe in purgatory a place where they can pray for the dead to release their sins ? I do not believe in this, where the tree fall that is where it lies. An account will be made now of the life from point of birth to point of death. That is my understanding of this scripture.
