You're confusing two seperate arguments I made.
The issue of religion not changing was in reference to the question of church appointing a new pope based on what liberal people want in the western world ie gay marriage, female priests and so on as opposed to what is in the Bible and text itself. I was talking about people speculating that "the church must change in order to hold onto their followers" as opposed to the followers being taught to actually follow the church.
The issue of contraception, I agree the Catholic church has remained consistent on this issue. That contraception is bad. Saying that condoms cause killing and have holes which spread AIDS was all John Paul II however.
