Here is a photo of the pope at the end of an audience with Patriarch Raphael I of Iraq, where the pope "bowed" to the Muslim holy book, The Koran, presented to him by the delegation.

All respect is due to the Pope for any good he done in his extensive life. Respectfully removing his shoes, John Paul built "bridges" with the Islamic World by becaming the first Pope to enter a Mosque when he toured a 1,300-year-old Islamic house of worship in Damascus, Syria. John Paul II also received Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat at the Vatican, even though it was reasonable to assume it would provoke criticism from Israel and Jewish groups. Sept. 15, 1982.

On May 14, 1999 a delegation of Christian and Muslim leaders from Iraq visited Pope John Paul II in Rome. A Muslim representative brought the Holy Qur'an, and the pope kissed it in front of all the participants.

Q1. Did the pope, who in fact was the supposed "infallible" voice of the Roman Catholic Church do this with full knowledge of what The Qur'an has to say about Jesus and the nature of God??

Q2. Did he know that The Qur'an attributes Jesus "the Messiah" with "only a messenger of Allah" status??

(Qur'an 4:171. O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

4:172. Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant,-He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer).

Qur'an 4:156. That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;

4:157. That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

4:158. Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;-

4:159. And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them;-)
