one would not call some one who attends church every sunday a Muslim, even if there life style can be honestly decribed as Godly.

let look at this from Gods perspective. To God, the only REALLY important thing is belief and faith in Him ONLY as a UNIQUE and SINGULAR GOD. He wants us to worship and obey Him. He wants us to live morally correct and just lives. Now as long as you do this, in the eyes of God, you are a muslim. It is said in the Quran that the WHOLE world is a MASJID - a place of prayer - ie: the whole world is HOLY - so wether you pray in a churh or a mosque you can be in a state of Islam and be a Muslim.

think- if a man had NEVER heard of muhammed, christ, islam, the bible etc.. but lived the type of life i described above, would God curse him JUST because he never SAID he was a christian or Muslim? of course not. it is in your ACTIONS and THOUGHTS that you become Muslim, not by tongue.

think- there are many people who call themselves Muslim but because of their actions and thoughts, really arent. just as there are many who have never CALLED themselves muslim but through their actions and thoughts, really are.

this is why Allah say in the Quran- 'the only religion to be accepted by ME is Islam'. - and this is why He also said that - 'amongst the christians and jews there are some that are believers -

and about slavery, you surely must know that a LARGE proportion of slaves were muslim. estimates range from 20%- 50%
