Lee Jasper and Ken Livingstone welcomed this man to London in July 2004. Here he is in his own words on the subject of suicide bombings, speaking on Newsnight, on BBC National television on 7 July 2004:

" ... It's not suicide, it is martyrdom in the name of God, Islamic theologians and jurisprudents have debated this issue. Referring to it as a form of jihad, under the title of jeopardising the life of the mujahideen. It is allowed to jeopardise your soul and cross the path of the enemy and be killed ..."

In October 2003, Lee Jasper and Ken Livingstone banned this man from appearing on the platform of a "Black History Conference":
Professor Tony Martin has no record of advocating, endorsing or supporting acts of terrorism, but is a Professor of Africana Studies and generally acknowledged as the planet's leading authority on the life and work of The Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
Why did Livingstone and Jasper welcome Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi to London, but ban Professor Tony Martin from speaking at a Black History Conference 10 months earlier?
