If you define an African as "one born in Africa" what about those of African ancestry who are not born in Africa?
They aren't African.
Furthermore, do you have any primary souce material which is evidence to the statement that "he was a brown skinned Hebrew"?
I present to you exhibit A:
These are the original Hebrews of Ethiopia who are called Falasha "strangers" because they migrated down to a foreign land.
Is their skin BLACK or BROWN?
Literally, their skin is brown, but the Beta Israel ( 'Falasha' is considered pejorative ) are Black African people. I agree the original Hebrews were brown skinned Semites. (non-Black) Arabs and (original) Hebrewsare from the Middle East, they are not Black/African people. The word 'Hebrew' itself probablymeans 'to cross over' and refers to Semetic people crossing the Euphrates river or it could mean 'the dusty ones' the tribe that came across the desert. I did read that the Afro Asiatic language familyoriginated in N.E Africa and began to diverge around the 8th millenium B.C.E although the exact date and place is debatable. In Arabic, the word 'Arab' is derived from i'rab meaning 'those who speak clearly'. I think the original Arabs are descended from the Bedu tribes of the Arabian desert, I don't know.

An African is someone from an African ethnic group ( Wolof, Yoruba, Bemba, Nubian, Oromo, Akan etc. ). People of African descent in the Western hemisphere are not African, I agree.

So you are telling me that even though my Grandfather was "Ethiopian" and my ancestors came from Senegal, Dahomay and Mali now somehow I am NOT an African?

If so, this thinking goes totally against what we have been taught by Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Toure, Cheikh anta Diop, Marcus Garvey, W.E.B. DuBois and countless others...

You're grandfather was from Ethiopia? That might be different. All I know is Black Americans as an ethnic group have nothing to do with us beyond race, they are not Africans, they are Black Westerners.

Yes, Moses was a Hebrew and Akhenaten was an Egyptian ( maybe I should research more about the people I name myself afer, did I spell his name wrong? ). What does Akhenaten have to do w/ Moses? Is that a crack at me?What proof or reason do you have to think the original Hebrews were Black ( just wondering )
