It is the same everywhere, I'm Bajan and I've heard other Caribbean peeps say that we eat monkey brains and stupidness like that! I've not met many Nigerians but I've heard that there is alot of peeps from Nigeria in London. Maybe this is offtopic.gifbut a cousin of mine from London said to me on the phone last night "at least in Barbados you haven't got no Africans to put up with!" I couldn't believe my ears, Barbados is full of Africans, where does she think us Caribbean peeps came from? Ameridians would be the true Bajans if they hadn't been wiped out!

When I repeated this to her she said "not African decendants I mean Real Africans"blkheadbang. Now this Woman is an educated lady, I don't want to make any excuse for her ignorance but I really believe people pick up on these opinions from there enviroment and the peeps there around, If she'd said them comments around any of mine/her Uncles in Barbados she would've got licks no matter her age

Think about this logically, for hundreds and hundreds of years we were stripped of our Identities, our homes our religious beliefs, and put against one another i.e the House slaves were hated by the plantation slaves and vice versa, I know i'm putting this in a real simple way but were all educated peeps here so I don't feel the need to break it down as its all been said time and time again, this attitude has travelled with us for centuries. We put each other down, and Iknow in Barbados peeps don't seem to want to see peeps rise, to do well, they love to see you fall down.As a people this vicious circle is going to be really hard to break, and we will only break it by coming together as a people, who cares if your African,Jamaican,Portuguese, French etc, we are one, we might have different traditions, and theres nothing wrong with being proud of the country you were born, but lets inbrace and educate ourselves of all of our cultures, learn from one another instead of hating each others differences.blkcheers

A white girl said to me the other day "I prefer Caribbean peeps to African peeps" I asked herto explain that comment and all she could say was "Caribbean peeps are safe, Africans smell, they don't wear deodrant in the clubs and there breath is bad" how ignorant and stupid is that answer? Shes probably met all of about 1 African and me!!!!! Shes from Swansea ( black peeps are non existant ).

My point is that still to this day white peeps opinions are still rubbing off on us subconciously, If my cousin had heard that comment she would've laughed and agreed with the girl, I on the otherside I was disgusted and told the white girl straight how ignorant I thought she was, the girl was seriously shocked, and her reaction told me that she had probably said this to someone else and got away with it.

I'm going on a bit now so I will leave you with this thought:

If our Ansestors had been as segregated as we are today would they have been able to take on thier Enemys and win??. Would our generation be able to come together as one and get the land we rightfully deserve and our freedom papers????

I doubt it!!!!!
