Some say it's so.

Was our history pre-planned? Is it taking us somewhere?

What are your thoughts?

Is there a purpose or meaning to life?

I've been wondering the same thing. My conclusion?

Ihave no idea.

Does everything happen for a reason?

No.

But does it thenfollow that NOTHINGhappens for a reason?

Can we really know for sure?

To state emphatically that "there isno purpose or reason" is rather presumptuous, isn't it, considering that u can't prove that?

If it can't be demonstrated empirically, then it's not science or logic, only a belief, no different from the belief that there IS reason and purpose to life.

DM, if we're all just the result of our parent's wild nights of sex, then what about the very first humans? Did they just "happen" too?

Or do u not believe that all humans descended from two people, a man and a woman?

If u suscribe to Darwin's theory, u probably don't believe that.

As to whether our history was pre-planned and is it taking us somewhere, can we see evidence of Divine intervention in our history?

The series of events in the 1850s beginning with the Dred Scott Decision throughJohn Brown's Harper Ferry raid to the 1860 election of the Anti-slaverycandidate Abraham Lincoln, to what followed next?

Was thatDivine intervention on our behalf? Or was it "coincidence?"

A hundred years later in 1960, Africans in America were in crisis again. Lincoln had died before his reconstruction plan could be implemented. His successor Johnson had virtually put us back in chains.

Then came John F. Kennedy, another leader sympathetic to our plight.

But the strangest thing is the amazing number of "coincidences" that parallel the Lincoln and Kennedy administrations. Google "Lincoln-Kennedy parallels."

Coincidence? Or Divine intervention?

If it was Divine intervention, obviously that happened because some overall purpose was threatened, not so?

And what is "coincidence?"

Some electro-magnetic or gravitational force? Exactly what is coincidence?

I think "free will" and predestination coexist, and are so entertwined that we really don't know when events are predestined or simply the physical laws of cause and effect.

Like Einstein said when asked if there was a God, we just don't know.

Far more intelligent than an emphatic "there is no God or no purpose."

The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.
