As for Toni morission, I have to admit I didn't understand her books at first.
However after deciding that I would give another one her books a chance I'm starting to understand her work more. Try reading Jazz. Some may not think this is one of her best works but Its the first book of hers I enjoyed.

Plus someone on heRE mentioned black writers from london. One of the best is Courrttia Newland. Don't know of other black writer like him.
