He is trying to say that Africans are un parallelled when it comes to respect for their women before the presence of outsiders. Most if not all African societies at one point were Matriarchal and at the same time managed to hold up a respect for both males and females that this planet hasn't seen since.
What he is trying to say is that Africans managed to treat women as the Goddesses they are without having to ever cover their faces for millenia.
He is saying something along the lines of, Islam's treatment of women is nothing special compared to what Africa has managed without ever having to cover women up, meaning there must be something wrong elsewhere if the solution for getting women respect is covering them up. Which incidentally is what I was trying to say at the beginning of the thread.
