So this may be a US thing but it did touch off global headlines.

Remember when former President Bill Clinton wanted to produce in inner cities something called 'empowerment zones.'

I thought of those at the time like death camp for young black men and the community at large.

And it turned out to be that.

There happens to be a link in professional business forum about apartments being converted to condos.

Many which happen around former public housing where empowerment zones take place.

Since then many poor residents are being moved out due to market forces who took advantage of these empowerment zones.

The main direct emphasis of empowerment zones was on improving job skill development to wean off poor people from welfare, now it created a underemployment camp.

This is sad piece here and its pretty much sums up those 'empowerment zones' to the T.

There are other threads in this forum addressing gentrification after the empowerment zone policies and it does not bode well at all.

We can all thank CLinton for this and Obama can use it to his advantage or continue to be read like a book all the way though.

It's always about picking the lesser of two evils.

Politics is a dirty business.

Now since former President Clinton left the White House he could have lived like a king in Arkansas with his wife Hillary Clinton, moonlighting and moonshining.

But they came to New York and lived near an 'empowerment zone'. Sucking the life out of Harlem and New York black people in general.

Why could Hillary not make it as senator of the US in Arkansas for example?

Hillary did amazing work it seems in Arkansas just as Oprah seemingly did amazing work in Baltimore.

That is a valuable question.
