Hi Mike
Yes, it is such a horrible disease and more should be done to help people with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia. People like my Father have worked so hard all their lives, paid their taxes and N.I contributions, and when they need help the most, they are being denied drugs that can help them when they are in the early or late stages of the disease. It won't cure them, but it will improve the quality of their lives. The cost of these drugs is a mere £2.50 per day, you can't even buy a MacDonalds meal for that!! In other words the NHS and NICE thinks that they are not worth £2.50 per day, and yet these elderly people have definitely paid alot more than £2.50 per day into the NHS system throughout their working lives.
In so many cases people are forced to sell their homes to pay for their care, if there is no one to take care of them. It is such a disgrace to treat elderly people in this way. They are a valued member of society.
Pat.
