Martin Robinson Delany (1812-1885)

African American intellectual , a journalist, physician, army officer (Delany was commissioned as a major, becoming the first black line field officer in the U.S. Army), politician, and judge, is best known for his promotion before the Civil War of a national home in Africa for African Americans.
