Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm right in assuming Coolies/Indians have not been in the Caribbean that long?? They are originally from India right?? I thought they only came to the the Caribbean at the beginning of the 20th Century? I have also noticed some these Indian-Caribbeans never want to call themselves what they are Indians!
Trinidad, 1800s.

When I say coolie I mean Black African Asian mixed peoples not all out Asian Indian peoples who would be Asian.

Quote:
Continental Africans have had plenty of contact with Caucasians, it was called colonialism. Hence why many African countries had to fight for their independence from europeans. You mentioned the Mau Mau's who were Kenyan so you should know this already, as they led the fight for independence in Kenya.
African peoples didn't have european culture so imposed upon them as we did in the carribean and wider Americas. The Asians of Kenya were brought there by the British during the colonial era as 'slaves' to work on train lines and such. Wether they were enslaved or indentured I'm not sure.

They tapped into the nonsense and ran with it.
Hmmm... and are still at it.

Hence why in ALL cultures the lighter you are, the straighter your hair etc the more desirable you are deemed. Why is that?? Because you are closer to resembling a european
Thats where I'm trying to draw the distinction. Perhaps African women have always had the desire to have more manageable hair as is seen in the North?

Quote:
Although I think it has started w/European ideology it is up to Africans to create our own. I know plenty of women who would not want any other hair sitting on their heads, and they are usually the most self-assured and confident ones. But it shouldn't take CONFIDENCE just to go with one's natural style, but unfortunately society has made this almost a necessity and which, as a result, many women who are natural are sensed to have a certain level of confidence.
Some Black Asians actually exalt darker skinned peoples in the south where many of them escaped Aryan domination. A culture in which we do the same would need to be created in the diaspora or in some places we will run the risk of being washed out.

Quote:
There is no such thing as African Asians. The people over there are not black people of African descent.
Everyone is African.

The peoples of the Middle east, Asia, including south east asia and Australia migrated from Africa 40,000 years ago traveled into the middle east and into Asia, Melenasia and Australia. Hence us being the original peoples although the Aborigines of Australia refute it and claim that they came before us. As said, many North Africans share a linage with those people as they interacted with the continent over the years.

They are Asian, have their own culture and so on (although it has its obvious similarities) but are from Africa. They are our cousins so to speak.

Am not going into a discussion about it please read;

We as Black peoples are oppressed worldwide, not just in Africa or the diaspora. White people/semites have been committing crimes against us for some time now.

Not to take from our plight but its no small issue, please read those books if you are interested in finding out more.
