i did not say we could not bama girl. that was an issue at the time with the people in that region where israel was. moses spoke to it because the israelites were starting to follow kind. these laws were strictly for the jews and moses did not speak to those outside of his nation. God was impressing upon them that they were starting to practice idolatry by using symbols that praised these gods. it was an israeli thing.
idolatry is not only in statues and tatoos, but how you behold your car, your home, anything that you put above obidience to God.
a tat won't send you to hell or bring down the wrath of God upon you as it did in OT times.
how do you feel when you see the ayrans with all the tats on their necks and arms bodly professing hatred and white power? have you ever seen satanist tats, there are some pretty obnoxious ones out there graphic and the message is clear. witches and wiccans have certain tats to identify themselves to others.
the laws that God gave to israel were to guide them through and keep them to full fill the promise made to Abraham and to Adam and Eve in the garden.
when israel sought after God and obeyed they were invincible. but when they went whoring after other God's he allowed even the heathen nations to chasten them. there was a point in time where their was only one human in line to keep the session of the line of David alive to full fill the promise.
these laws were given to israel to help them follow after God and not be drawn aside. the old testament laws were for jews oops! israel.
if you are a christian be selective in what you choose to have tatooed on your body.
it is like the short hair spoken of in corinthians. the context was not to set a precedent for women to not cut their hair if they chose to. jsut like long dresses do not make a woman holy, short hair or baldness does not make them sinners.
the context to the corinthian scriptures was in speaking to the 1000s or women who worshipped in the temple of diiana i believe it was. these women shaved their heads for as long as they were servants to the temple. some of these women had started to come to church and paul was dealing with the symbolism of the moment that aligned them to dianah and the temple.
because God is a jealous God these women had to make a decision between He and diana.
If folk who do not have anything to say would refrain from saying it, this would be a better world... J.V.McGee
