I was walking by a "prosperous" Black church a few years ago and noticed a rectangle painted on the asphalt in front of the church saying "reserved for the minister" in the space. When I was coming back a few hours later I noticed what most people would regard as a "nice" car parked in the space. It was probably a Cadillac but I don't recall since I didn't pay that close attention because I regard all cars as JUNK.
But my point is that liberation theology in the Black community seems to be about liberating parishioners of their money by people pretending they know more about God than everyone else. Isn't that what religion has always been mostly about?
How can you have a Black theology unless God is Black?
