You wouldn't expect your grandmother to turn up at church wearing batty riders and a mesh vest top, and she wouldn't expect you to turn up for a job interview with your jeans hanging off your ass and greeting the interviewer with "Wha gwan blud" THINK young brother.
Depends on what the job vacancy is, if we had jobs to offer our own there'd be nothing wrong with those people working in trades, in a western society they can't even do that 'wha gwan blood'' has to become, ''you alright mate/geezer'' which is acceptable where words like, ''safe'' isn't, it has to become, ''cheers''. If we had our own thing going on there'd be nothing wrong with our ''slang'' in the right setting.

Anyway, was attempting to give my opinion on the matter, personally had a different upbringing and can speak the queens english if need be, those elocution lessons don't wear off easy, but I can't say that I don't resent it, rather resent having to keep it up for too long for fear of becoming a, ''well spoken lad'' with all manner of white women drooling after me.

Being Ghetto is not a positive thing nor does it have anything to do with black culture.
Was simply saying that the non conformist mentality is prevailant in our communities as our culture and language has been villainized, we have taken that up... being a villian (a successful reject of society), being ''ghetto'' rather than reject it outright as it something that is imposed upon us we have had to accept it, work with it, so sadly, yes, being ''ghetto'' has a lot to do with being black.

The ghetto(s) have become a, ''safe havens'' places where people can be themselves, now more of a loose term not supposed to be taken literally, perhaps. If you're ''ghetto'' you've struggled against the system, you've tussled with the beast, you're ''where its at'' (the cause) and haven't had to take on pretending to be something you're not to get by. Thats what it means to, 'be ghetto', theres that understanding that we live in a capitalist system and that things aren't right so theres that mistrust of anyone who has taken on the facets of that system (white supremecy)... i.e; anyone who, ''speaks well'' and isn't ''ghetto'', suffers from the injuries caused by indoctrination... Just needs tidying up where certain 'survival tactics' have been taken up to survive on the outside as it were.

Of course the ball is in a new court now that things have taken on a political, academic slant rather than the more direct conflict we faced 20 or so years ago, now we're in an, ''in it to win it'' position where we're tackling them on their own grounds whilst clinging to what it means to be black attempting to avoid (over) indoctrination and the facets of white supremacy when we can but there are those who would rather reject it outright... rather, that part of us that would rather reject it outright.

Personally still feel embarrassed, as a kid I used to feel ashamed that I couldn't understand Patoi and had that, ''who am I? british? / jamaican?'' question hanging over me.. add their teaching history as though it only goes back 500 years and starts with the holocaust and you have the right ingredients for that outright rejection of western culture and values and a bunch of pissed off rebellious youths misdirecting their anger in the face of a construct that they can't see or understand.
