@Tahliba
I thought I should answer the question but I'm not the politician making the promises. My answer is based on observations of previous words and deeds of said politicians.
What are they offering the people of Zimbabwe?
Zanu PF
Economic self determination and by extension economic freedom via the following:
Land reform
Indigenisation programme of major industry and business in Zimbabwe.
Look East policy. May not seem like much now but long term if sanctions continue than perhaps investment/support can realistically come from elsewhere.
MDC
An immediate end to unofficial sanctions and a generous financial rescue package to undo the damage of the last 8 years so that Zimbabwe can once again be the ‘breadbasket’ of Africa.
Tsvangirai has promised to return land to white farmers on many occasions. What that means in practice (if he means it) is possibly civil unrest.
Needs of the Zimbabwe people being subsumed by those of the u.s/u.k. Should uncle sam wish to build more military bases in Africa (as they have intended for a while) then MDC can hardly say no to their paymasters. Should uncle sam insist Zimbabwe opens up its economy to more western trade (flooding of cheap western goods) then MDC can hardly say no to their paymasters.
Simba who?
Sorry it's the LibDem effect. I can't be bothered.
