OK, let me rephrase the question. " Why don't more Black people play Chess? " and I say again, if we do, then where do we play and why don't I know about it?
Come on people; this is serious!

Wait what, not many? Considering that about 5 people post regularly on this forum that I can remember offhand I'm surprised you even got a reply.
If I asked how many people have completed Gears of War, I'd get even fewer replies.
Would I assume that black people don't own Xbox 360's or PC's. Nope.
Chess is a niche hobby at best, played mainly by the old who have more time to spare. If you're good and your peers happen to be good, you'll be playing for a long time. Most people don't have that time. Secondly most people might prefer to play Poker thesedays, they certainly do where I am.
As to where people go, well most normally play with friends. So probably in a the home, or perhaps a pub/Social club, just like they do with Poker.
Chess isn't exactly a white working class pass time either. I only know 5 people who play often. Two are Asian, two are white and one is black. Unless you're involved in a chess club most will be lucky to know even one person.
In a nutshell it isn't really that popular, heck I know more people who play cribbage. A good percentage of pubs have tournaments against other pubs. Same can't be said for chess, a game that has always been on the outside of popular culture.
