Its always much easier to see things just wrong with us and no one else.. i heard about the way jewish people behave on the london-new york route and indians on the delhi route so please save me the semantics of 'its just us we seem to have a problem'...I don't want to be side tracked on petty blame game tactics amongst African people.I heard this same comments and seen the behviour of Nigerians but it doesn't seem right considering the other Nigerian that was killed on the flight from spain...bet you would say Rosa Parks should have sat down at the back YT folks always treat us good you know the order of things..or take issue with Toyin ligalis protestation at the Cathedral during the Slavery abolition service..i could go on and on
Take away the deportee issue the response was highly excessive and OTT besides my man is a UK Citizen so shouldn't have interfered at all going by your rationale...he was still seated he didn't get up to protest loud and wild like your assumptions of a average nigerian...
I do agree the Nigerian Govt is pathetic 'cos theycan hurt this guys with oil and the very lucrative route..the local routes have very much improved in Nigeria shame it took many lives to get it right my cousin almost died on that flight that killed the Sultan

@et al
Its all about hurting their financies especially the very lucrative london-lagos route try booking a ticket in Dec now and see if don't cost a cool £1,000
Just because one man felt the need to speak up because a deportee was making too much noise and ending up getting arrested for interfering with Police duties, it doesn't, in no way, shape or form make it on the same level as Rosa Parks felt the need to do.

To say you have heard about the Jews and Indians is also stupid as they are not moaning that they are always been mistreat because they feel that the London-Lagos route is quite lucrative for BA. That may be so but it doesn't give them the right to throw their weight around once they are on the flight. Causing a riotous atmosphere on a plane just does not go down well in this day and age.

As I have said, BA also flies to other BLACK destinations with planes full of BLACK people yet I do not hear claims of racism or mistreatment from people who regularly traveled on these routes. So I ask again; why is it only Nigerians that claim this? I personally think it is a communication and cultural issue. Some Nigerians can be quite difficult to deal with and I say this as a fellow Nigerian.

Back to your Cousin.

You didn't mention what he thought the state of Deportee was. I have already explained that 'I go die!' does not mean 'I am dying' so why did your Cousin feel the need to speak up? Was it that the Deportee was making too much noise or that the person was really being manhandled by the Police?

How comes no one else has come forward to verify your cousin's story. Did he really just speak up 'gently' to the Police or has he somewhat understated what he actually said or how he said it?

I am not so gullible to think that the British Police are really going to arrest someone without due course in front of 200+ witnesses. I know how much they watch their backs here and arresting someone without a good reason to do so would not be done in front of that many people.

Why do you keep stressing the fact that he is a British Citizen? Are you saying that had he being a Nigerian Citizen his arrest would have been justified? British Citizen or not, he made a wrong call... until there is evidence to suggest otherwise.

In the meantime I wish more people would join the Nigerian air safety cause because as it stands, your cousin made the wrong call.
