When he is not giving a speech, and is caught in his more unguarded moments, he reveals himself to understand Crackers VERY WELL, and not dissimarly to the average AA. I direct you to his radio interview and comments about his grandmother being a "typical white person"which white folks DID NOT appreciate, and Obama had to back up off of,lol.( No script,or speech writers, totally unsolicited comment) Or making comments in his book about having resentment towards whites in general. There are full blooded Negroes who can't or WON'T connect THOSE dots,lol. He understands Crackers PLENTY.
No my friend, he is tapdancing the way he is for the same reason that FULL BLOODED Negroes have historically and currently tapdance. If I or most AA's thought it was what YOU are alluding to,(and most of us are very good at peeping that, since we have plenty of experience seeing it in Black politicians with TWO Black parents), we wouldn't be having this discussion. It would be a done deal. I/we would have been riding with Edwards or Hillary all the way, and never would have even considered voting for him, and would have stayed home in Nov if neither of them got the nod. You all are missing my point, I don't blame HIM for tapdancing, that's what politicians DO particularly Black ones. I blame Black folks for not RESPONDING accordingly, to protect OUR best interests. That's where accountability and leverage come in, for the umpteenth time.......
Unlike many AA's I don't see Obama's denounciation of WRight as a deal breaker or unforgivable, or even indicative of anything,(except Obama's sense of political expediency and typical politican sensibilities). HOWEVER, the hiding out like a broke baby daddy during the King commemoration and the other examples that I have commented on at lenghth on this Board WERE dealbreakers for me. None of the things I objected to required him to have any particular view of white folks, or required that Obama be Nat Turner. As a matter of fact, the 2 major things he ducked that I objected to WERE ATTENDED BY ONE OR BOTH OF THE WHITE CANDIDATEs,,lol.
Proving to me that as is OFTEN the case with Black candidates, and I said this a long time ago in one of these threads, Negroes end up getting LESS from them, and GLADLY accepting it to boot, then we would if we had supported the Cracker in the race. That may be acceptable to you all, (as some symbolic or moral victory)but it's not to me. I'm a pragmatist at heart. If you as a BLack candidate you are so hamstrung/burderned/paralyzed by being Black and not ruffling white folks feathers, YOU ARE OF NO USE TO ME, get the phuck out the way, and let the white man or white woman run shit til you figure out a way to at least give me THE SAME treatment as a white candidate would not WORSE treatment,lol. I don't expect to get MORE from you. I can live with that, but I will not accept LESS from you.
