the sense of entitlement is a truth about white supremacy in white countries that rears its ugly head now and again, but then where is this not the norm where a majority are concerned? i would lapse into that mind set if, as an African in Africa, some half caste Jerry Rawlings got more votes than me at the ballot box. i would be engulfed in a sense of rage, of being let down by my own: of self betrayal, of being a bunch of suicidal incompetents.
in electing Obama, it's white people doing the voting, after all. Hillary knows that. she also knows why they are doing it. white folk will not vote a man with 1/4 African blood in him unless they know, they are sure they are running the show. they do not trust black people as much to do otherwise. there is something to be had in voting in a half black man at this point in history.
she knows serious argument rages within the white camp over this issue, hence the finely divided votes.
what she is lamenting, moaning and fretting about, more so than a black person winning over her, is the loss of a historic moment: to elect the first woman president in America, to win... appease her ego even. she is too intelligent not to realize Obama was hand picked to win from the get go. she went up against the motion her own race raised in doing this, trying desperately to convince the lords at the think tank headquarters (who she definitely takes for idiots by now), that the policy change facade it is not really necessary.
i think it is the stubbornness of those who pull the strings behind the scenes, the way they have fought her to the end, their resilience, that vexes her into a tantrum.
in parting, she still doesn't agree with their line of reasoning, still believes a historic chance has been squandered.
