It was the dry season while I was there in Zimbabwe. The falls, usually the biggest waterfall in the world and over a mile long was only half full but still very impressive.
I've been once in the rainy season when the Zambezi is full and all you see is a big mist and the roar is deafening. So in a way it was ok that it was dry because at least I got to see into the gorge nicely and appreciate the size.
Starting from the left and walking right you see the cataract. It's a small seperate channel that flows into the gorge.
Walking around to the front you see it nicely.
Then you climb down some slippery steps to get a view of the main falls in the distance.
Now walking through the rainforest to see the main falls...
See how low it is? Normally those lil brown islets are all covered.
This is the other half. In rainy season it's all flowing too but at this time of year it's just a trickle...
The main of the falls is like a straight line for a mileand then a sharp turn to the right where the backwash turns round several bends after the bridge on the Zambia border. People go whitewater rafting there and there are swings and bunjee jumps across the gorge.

yeah that is me
