Default Afirca's Missing 500 years - 24-03-08, 12:25 PM

what happened to africa, over the 500yrs or so before the europeans arrived. or better put, what happened that facilitated Africa's decline of dynastys and powerful Empires?

we know that places all over East, north, and west africa had rich cities, organised forms of govt and were wealthy..so what happened that caused the decline, because it is probably fair to say that at the time of the european arrival in Africa this decline had already been in full swing in most parts of the continent,

so what happened during those years that Historians will say was the major cause of the decline.

One word...Islam.

Here are a few more books that add perspective from different angles...

Dr. Chancellor Williams attempts to look at our history in a panoramic view at how Classical Black Civilization has been under attack from West Africa to the Far East of Asia for the last 6,000 years. In doing a work of this scope, he of course details the effect of Islam on Africa, erecting massive Black slave armies acquired through jihad against any and all Africans rejecting Islam...

As a native of Northern Ghana, John Allembillah Azumah writes on the effect Arab-Islam has had on West, Central, and East Africa with meticulous detail again of the vast Black slave armies and even how most of the slave soldiers were killed after their imperialist use was fulfilled. There are massive pits filled with African bodies who were enslaved by these Muslim jihadists throughout the African continent. He details how the babies of our women were routinedly killed (being sex-slaves of Arabs) and all the men were castrated before entering the Islamic Empire (proper). There are many more facts and details you will find his book...

The native Egyptian, Moustafa Gadalla, writes about the ancestral ties of ancient Egypt with West Africa. In doing so, he breaks down the history of why so many native Egyptians fleed the Nile Valley and flooded both Central and West Africa where conditions were similar to the Nile Valley having both the Congo and Niger Rivers. He focuses mainly on the West African ties, and how the Islamic jihad tormented West Africa until it was too fragmented to defend itself against the European trans-Atlantic slave trade....

The virulent conquests of both Arabs and converted Islamicized Africans destabilized Africa beyond repair for 1,000 years before the European chapter of the Maafa. In the words of one of our illustrious ancestors:

"I maintain that all organized religions with their high-sounding principles were taken over by power-hungry male chauvinist murder cults. Islam, of over 1,000 years before the beginning of the European and Atlantic slave traders drained Africa of so much time, energy and resources that it did not have enough strength and organization to resist the European slave trade."

This is such a strange question to me. You are talking about "Africa" as a European would.

So I ask you, what does "Africa" mean in a pre-colonial context???? What you are really talking about is a tribal history and context. I know some of the history of pre-colonial Nigerian tribes and the tribes were thriving as I recall.

And by the way the Europeans did not arrive with colonization. They were there long before...I know that in Edo history, Europeans had contact with the Benin Empire as far back as the 14th century.

I agree the Arabs had more to do with African pre-colonial history than the Europeans.

What period are you talking about?
And what areas? West Africa? East Africa? Southern Africa? Central Africa?

And what were the sources of wealth for these great civilizations? The source of their wealth generally gives a clue to the source of their demise. (War and destruction aside)

If we do not have an accurate analysis of the problem, we cannot possibly develop a good strategy to resolve it.
