I applied for a job two weeks ago when i was frustrated and mentally knackered of my current job. Didn't think much of it until i got a call backnext day for interview which i attendedlast weekand they offered me the job.
I am so pleased, i really am. I'll be working for a media company andwon't start until after i return from my holiday which will be the second week of November but the job is fantastic, i mean really fantastic.I am actually still in shock they offered me the position, when i didn't even think i would get a call for an interview. Probably would not have applied had i not been frustrated that day as well :?.
Anyways right now i am just waiting impatiently to receive my contract so that i can give in mytwo weeks noticeand will be taking the other two as my annual leave .
Will tell you more about it on Saturday .

What an encouraging thread. I have just had a n interview today. Personally, I think I could have done better. Am I the only one who has a prob when it comes to selling self???? I really must work on this area!when you know what your capable of and need to sell it on the spot. And those doddgy qestions - please just say what you mean!!! I beg.

You need to be clear about what you are selling if you expect the person on the other side of the desk to be interested in buying it.

Thanks for responding MGL. I hear you, I just get really nervy at interviews, I do my home work etc, before the interview I feel confident and something like the interviewers' non chalont manner can throw me (which is what happened today). I mean, to be fair to myself, i can be real hard on me, I did not do as bad as I may be portraying, but I didn't feel like 'Yeah, i'v done the best that I could have done' if you know what I mean. Alas, it wasn't the ideal role I was aiming for any way - but it would have helped in terms of gaining exerience in another area of my profession, anyway, I will use that experience as a learning curve. As you say, I need to be clear about what they need to know and just speak my truth. Btw, the only part of 'self' I'm referring to in this contex is skills - but you knew that right.

Yeah I had an interview yesterday, think I messed up big style! I answered 1 question wrong so had to go over it, couldn't think of an answer to another question so more or less said "pass". I started out relaxed and confident but as time went on I knew I was losing it with my answers, sodefinitely don't think I'm getting that job. Not even sure if my stockings and heels could save me!

Girl, that doesn't sound bad to me. Me I started off crap and blubbering, then relaxed towards the end. Hoever, I too know I did not land that j.o.b. My agency are still to contact me on Monday, yea or neigh.

Thank you sooo much K, the advise was brilliant- food for thought, but I feel confident that by doing things the way you suggested all will be good.

I got 2 job interviews monday. 1 of them im pretty confident about cos its basically the same job im doin now just closer to my house, not really worth it really and the other1 im so not confident.
The first 1 there is 12 people also being interviewed that day and I have never been to an interview wheres theres only 1 vacancy going. I was in my last job 3 years so im sooo nervous and worried now. I am really panicking.
Also i feel like the people interviewing me wont take me serious because i just turned 21 and its in a school setting. My last job i felt that the teaching staff didnt take me serious as i was only a few years older then their students. Even though i got nealy 4 years working with young people.
Any ideas on how to make you stand out from the competition when theres alot of people applying for only 1 position?
