Default Water meters Yay or Nay - 10-08-07, 09:37 AM

I have just a bought a property and there is not a water meter fitted. i pay £26.00 a month for my water but Thames water said it will be cheaper if I have a meter fitted instead.

I was spekaing to a freind yesterday who says she pays £150.00 every quarter for her water EVEN THOUGH she has a water meter fitted.

So is it cheaper to have a water meter fitted or not?

it depends on how much water you are likely to use and the size of your household. my water rate is about 250 for the year or just over 21 quid. which is cheaper than what you said your friend pays.

my home is a family home so water gets used often

did you have a meter before and how much was your month payments then

No I never had a water meter, The water comapny (Thames water) has said this will be a cheaper option for me than paying £26.00 a month.

But after speaking to other people soem said that thier payments have actually increased after having the meter fitted.

I have a 1 bed flat no garden.
