Hey Judge J,

Has a written contract been drawn up and signed? Has pay even been discussed properly?

I suggest that you ask your employer why "you ain't getting paid".

I'd refuse to do anymor work until I did get paid! Did every one else get paid? Is your details with payroll? Did you start working after payroll cut off date? Speak to your employer a.s.a.p. How are you meant to get back into work for the next month!

Find out why you aren't getting paid. If there's no good reason, decide whether you are prepared to give your time away for free and for how long (there might be some value in this if you're learning stuff you couldn't otherwise) - if you can stand this, stick to your time limit rigidly, and tell your 'employer' what you're doing. If there is a good reason for not being paid, find out when or if you're likely to and judge whether you're prepared to wait. Again, depends on your situation.

If you don't want to give your time away, stop working there and state that you want your contract honoured for the time you've given. Problem here is that you have no way of enforcing your contract unless you have been there for at least a year, or that you've been discriminated against on grounds of race, gender and so on and can prove it. Depends how much you want to pester, but you may need to walk away and chalk it down to experience.

I agree with what the others have said and I don't think there is anything wrong with insisting you get paid BEFORE your next pay date is due. You worked for it now they need to stick to their part of the deal. An agreement is an agreement and even if it was a verbal one it could stand up in court - as far as I recall from my dabble in law. You probably know more on that side than me

How else are you going to eat?! Passion is all good but it won't feed you and it won't get you to work if the situation drags on!!

STAY ON THEIR CASE even if it means you follow up each day or on the day they say they'll get back to you on. I would suggest doing this until your pay is sorted out and if they seem to still be gazing start going for other jobs and make it clear that you are doing so.

Good Luck!

Rather than sending emails and leaving telephone messages, I suggest that you find your employer and ask them why "you ain't getting paid".

Hmmm sounds like some shady business going on. You should make her aware that you are clued up on your rights and are prepared to take further action if she does not take you seriously I can't stand when people take blatant liberties like that. I know it's a pain and can be quite stressful but remember you are not being treated fairly right now and no one else is going to talk up for you...unless of course you want to give me her number!! I have no problerms being a difficult client/customer

I do hope your meeting was productive and you left there with firm answers and of course your money.

Judge J..may I suggest that if you are getting the round around..that instead of trying to see her, that you see her BOSS....or better still get your union involved if you belong to one.. because until you get some sort of organisation behind you i fear she will continue to string you along.. btw please do not abuse the woman or do something stupid as you just ending up playing into their hands and letting them off the hook...
