i have come across many things to do with Life Coaching
reaching your full potential etc etc
but what is it al about?
why would anyone need a life coach?
and
it must be quite popular or very vogue because nintendo ds lite has 'my life coach' due out soon
What's it all about?
LOL life coaching is about helping individuals focus on a specific goal they want to achieve at any point in their life. They might not find it as straight forward to do themselves and often having a pacemaker can give the additional back up, support or focus to achieve what they intend to. Most of the coaching is lead by the coachee because the goal is theirs but the relationship should be a 50/50 one.
Why would they need it?
Many reasons and mainly because as adults you are expected to just know everything without actually being given the tools to get certain things done. A lot of it is about outting logic and practical things in place that aren't just things dictated.
Yes I am a coach aswell but I don't call myself a "life" coach just a coach because I coach individuals in their studies, work, business or life (if that's what the coachee needs/wants). Some coaches are specific in one area e.g. you might have coaches at work who specialise in one or several areas of the company but no other things outside of it.
I usually consider what's going on in your life to an extent because that will always determine how much progress is realistically possible given the goal you want to meet and the time we've agreed to try and meet the goal in.
As for nintendo LMAO they will try anything won't they and I'd be interested to hear if that's any good. One thing I know about coaching is that there has to be a genuine interest from the coach to develop others as well as them selves and as much as a computer is programmed by a human I just don't think it would cut it.
Anyway, sorry for my delay getting to this but I hope some of that helps.
I have to admit a while back (while I was still a student) the idea of a life-coach seemed a bit trendy, superficial and new-agey for me, but now that I've graduated and have had so many expectations to know and do things I was never really taught or prepared for a life-coach seems like a very useful service.
Part of my aversion to the "life coaching" idea was a misunderstanding. I assumed having a life-coach was either akin to the "voice on your shoulder" telling you what to do or a person who was expected to know everything about everything (which I know is impossible so it made me even more skeptical).
I've learned that a person doesn't need to have all of the answers in order to help you, just merely being able to point you towards the appropriate resources is more than enough.
