Default job advice - 19-07-08, 02:51 PM

Hi Bnv

I will soon be returning to work after being on Maternity leave. I need a new job. my pregnancy saved me from going mad. I am back to my ol dmanager who is lovely. But I need change.

I would like a job that I can do 25-30hrs a week earning about 12k ish or more. flexible and wont give me to much problems re childcare.

what types of jobs do you think I should look into?

so far I am looking at clerical and admin via nhs
if I could swap departments where I am now then I would do that but
need change

all good advice welcome

How about transferring from the job or department you're in and doing a job that you can get to use and develop your writing skills on (thinking about your blog idea)? If there isn't a fitting role in the department you're in, consider the marketing department perhaps.

As far as I recall, you have the right when you return to request another position or reduced hours with consideration of your childcare needs. In some places you may need to stick at the job for a few months first.

I think you'd need to go direct to the jobcentre you're interested in for a vacancy and the nhs should have vacancies on their site.

It's a bit hard to tell what type of change you're looking for. I know you stated the hours and childcarr but:

What in your current role don't you want?
What in a new role do you want?
Which of the suggestions so far sound like something you'd consider?

I have signed up to the nhs jobs website and have been getting email alerts when jobs fitting my search criteria pop up.

i was doing 30hrs before i went on maternity and will be doing the same again. My only issue is the nightime and saturday shift, Right now its completely impossible. I do know there are jobs going in other departments that offer mon - friday. I am hoping I can get a place in one of them.

i basically want to remove the saturday and night shift, both clash with childcare provisions. I want to be able to work mon - fri 30hrs weekly. I will happily lose 5 hrs if I can get what I want well kind of
