blkrainbowfro AQ nice to hear from you sis. But this food thread really getting people. Culture still alive and kicking and just need someone to kick it off and see what happen.

Now Miss AQ. You just reach back and you come with GRAND TALK, or as we say GRANDCHARGE about:

'Except for the pea soup (Mum's speciality which I won't even attempt to conquer...cos I'm scared like dat) the rest is a walk in the park. Eh big talk sis. So you bad. Dear lady talking like that is going to get you into trouble'.

Do you know the Maroons both in my island and elsewhere use to send spies to look for women of certain quality and qualities and then organise bands to raid and bum rush villages, and take these women to their camps, many of whom came willingly. So mind how you talk.

As for Kunjufu, and his application for a cyber wife. My man has it all wrong. No friend. We not looking one. We taking all those sisters boasting about their skills, Mafdet first[sorry hubby] and rounding up the lot. I already warn sister Karen, from Guyana and she can help Mafdet with her Guyanese cooking. Got this thing all worked out. Organising the raiding party as we speak.banana.gif
blkbrukteetblkbrukteetListen mi P (pardy) , I don't make claims I can't manifest. I have a Mother who doesn't joke when it comes to foodage time and trust me, she can "burn" so I know what I'm up against. Sooo, when I do get my bad self in that kitchen and produce the goods, like Maffy-girl, I have to send these peeps home with "doggie suitcase, never mind di "bag"....lol. Sooo, if you are looking to capture a virtual stove conqueror, unnu better cast u net wide-wide.

Biggest compliment I ever received was many years ago, an ex-boyfriend of mind from college days came round for a dinner party I was giving and I went full out with the cooking. Thing is I had never cooked for him before and I presented the plate to him, by this time everyone else was chowing down, he took one mouthful, then another, stopped and looked at me and said "You do know you're going to make someone a great wife?"...blush, blush. It was then I knew I'd clinched the "cooking ting". Not blowing my own trumpet - heh, heh - but I know I have a modicum of intelligence but it was always the "cooking ting" I wanted to master, my Mum is brilliant at it, which invites the question...

Have you ever "shatted" yourself when presenting the Matriarch/Patriarch with food and you're just shaking with fear waiting for the thumbs up? When I received my first compliment from my Mum ever for cooking, I swear I saw Heaven and the angels singing in unison...blkrainbowfro

Thanks sis its very typical that you don't realise how fortunate you was until later on in life, me and my family always talk about these good times of our childhood.

@Locsgirl

Nah sis dem recepies are just for Kunjufu because he is GHETTO FAB SPECTACULAR blkkiss, you need to give Hesaid good food for him to be able to stay strong in character for all those questions posed at him, and feed him properly this time so he don't dribble all over the place anymore.....ok.blksmoke

Init though niceone.gif

Even to this day when my mum is around and I present her with a plate of food I shudder to see if she is going to make a comment, because she is not ready to give up her title yet so I don't step out of place thinking I deserve it yet......there is always room to learn more even if you think you know everything.
