Well, it seems that we poor people at my college never heard about that!
You know what used to make me laugh? When people with the jheri curl used to break dance and spin on their heads...looked just like a snail trail.
I remember dripping all over our ghetto blasters too!

HELL NO!! Never. My brother did though and I still curse him for it. When those old pictures come out boy its so much joke.
And if you danced with a girl with wet look/ quickest way to get spot on your face especially as a teenager.
Glad I never had one though. It saves alot of ridicule down the line.

Le Moor,
I agree with you on that. I think about the styles my mother had in the 1960's, the wrap and the beehive. Now women are wearing them all over again. Anyways, I'm laughing at that thought because we all thought that having the jheri curl was the greatest thing since man walked on the moon. A lot of my friends had jheri curl and I wanted one soooobad. Ok, I got it, but at the end I got disgusted with. It didn't look right on and all of that curl juice! man, it a lot of work maintaining a jheri curl. It got on my nerves. Another bad thing about the jheri curl is that if it got nappy, it looked horrible.
I think about days. I thought that Ola Ray looked good in her Jheri curl. I get perms. If the jheri curl came beckin style, I do not think I want another one. I like what I have on my head in present.

Mansamusa,
Yeah right!
I'm sure you were in one of those videos of the day, bopping along to Grandmaster Flash on your ghetto blaster...
Come to think of it, didn't I see you in your tracksuit and all jheri-curled in an Afrika Bambatta video.....?
Lol
