What separates great men from ordinary males?
Imagination, thought, desire and effort. That is all.

An air of divinity.... Nowadays, few men possess it, thats why there are few great men left in this world.

Regardless of the fact that these two committed adultery ona number of occasions, they are still undoubtedly good minded great people.

The ability to think as an individual and control his mind more effectively than the next man.

I think people are being a bit harsh on MLK. Ok he commited adultry on his wife. It wouldn't have been any different if the woman was black who he cheated on his wife with.
I prefer Malcom X either way, he just had the attitude I'd probably have given that current situation minus the muslim religion (no offense to anyone).
As far as a "great man", there are many great man that are working 9 - 5 every day that will never be in text books. People have this colonial, or just plain fasination with "more" or "big" = "better" or "great".

"There is nothing in the world that you want that you cannot have so long as it is possible in nature and men have achieved it before. The greatest men and women in the world burn the midnight lamp. That is to say, when their neighbours and household are gone to bed, they are reading, studying and thinking."
Marcus Garvey

"Vision is the ability to see the future through the past. Therefore, an Afrikan centered manhood requires Afrikan men to begin envisaging themselves as ancient warrior scholars. It requires a newfound, but traditional, male role model that integrates educator with warrior. It requires them to visualize themselves as jenoch. The extreme polarization of warrior from educator brought about by the Western drive toward excessive specializtion, e.g., separating thought from action, negates this possibility. Regardless, Afrikan men must embrace and actualize a holistic personality which accepts and nurtures both mentalities.
The Afrikan community needs a model of manhood that accepts neither the ivory nor ebony towers as safe havens during times of ignorance and war."
