Black people and newcastle accents just don't mix. Have you heard Shola Ameobi? It's hilarious!
I'm sorry I couldn't talk to her or any black person with a geordie accent for five minutes. I'd be laughing too hard.
As for groaning raise the tone of the thread man. I can't join you over there. This ain't westcoast productions. It's Blacknet!

I'm actually quite surprised that Sanaa took that role...but then again why am I surprised-it's not as if I know her. Taye Diggs did the same...and then again we all know about him anyway.
As for the woman who wrote the film, what can I say...she was born out of a union such as this...
I hope it bombs!...I have a feeling it wont-especially since films like Crash and how that was praised to the high hills.
*As for a film about a Nigerian/Jamaican union I would LOVE to watch a film like that

Hmm Lady Vee you have a point. The African man/ European woman thing has been done to death as far back as 70’s, 80’s *Look Who’s coming to dinner* , *Jungle Fever* etc… etc….
Hollywood has explored every area imaginable before except for the untouched territory of African Woman/European man thing which is what’s happening now, and I imagine will happen more frequently for the next few years.
Personally I am not persuaded by TV, or popular culture so nothing Hollywood does will make me go out to get me no white man, I don’t find them in the least bit desirable so do most sisters.
Still I understand what Kunjufu is saying as well. The agenda here is not even about love is blind rubbish this is just more of Europeans clever plan to increase the disunity between African men and Women

Why are British people getting upset over African-American sexual politics. We're English speaking, but apart from that we don't have the same social position and history. This just shows how much we come under American cultural jurisdiction.

Are you saying that the same issues with Blacks in Britain don't exist? I remember meeting an "educated" sister from France that seemed to only want to deal with White guys. I don't know if it is the samein Britain, but I would guess that similar societal issues are faced by all Africans in predominantly White countries.

It seems that the dial on the clock continues to turn backwards (at least for Blacks in the America). Too many of them walk around with their pants too big down to their knees[suB](like in slavery)[/suB], calling each other n****[suB](like in slavery)[/suB], degrading our beautiful Black women[suB](like in slavery)[/suB], and now a film that seems to suggest that Black men are not fit men[suB](like in slavery)[/suB] and that perfection resides with the White man[suB](need I say it again)[/suB].
Disgusting...

Where or when did we have a NORMAL movie that protrays BLACK love in a NORMAL context without gun's, homosexuality, and Europeans in it? When my children watch Sky movies or go to the Cinema where is the proper representation of THAT normal black man doing his thing for them to look up to, aspire to.. Where is that Normal Black woman for them to emulate that has her life..

Rent "The Best Man," "Love and Basketball" (one of my favorites), and "The Wood". But I do agree with you. We are inundated with sentiments that Blacks need to go out of their race for a "normal" relationship.

Do you imagine that Europeans would sit still for a continued protrayal of their culture as killers, banachecks, homosexuals or pimps... so why are we putting up with such crap...?

I think our minds have continually been conditioned to believe this for at least the last 40 years.

@All Banaceck was George Peppard? But seriously can we make one New Years Resolution to move this discussion forward the way many eg Kunjufu, SafetyBlitz, and some of the sisters have.
1. To reiterate Kunjufu, JBlack and others have made it crystal clear the media is the ideological weapon of our enemies. It is not there to help us but to promote the images of those who are hostile to us and distort reality.
2. To take SBlitz point futher. I we want to solve problems as a mature community we need to operate in a intelligent manner to solve a complex problem and all this to-ing and throwing with little enlightement only keeps us on a spot. Mentioned this elsewhere. Went to see the top scholar in the US on Demographic and Population Studies vis a vis African-Americans a sister Professor.
Been a fan for the longest and she is one of the most radical and progressive voices, along with her husband in the field. She has studied African populations going back centuries from the eariest population surveys eg Census and other forms of records and concludes that Africans genetically produce disproportionate amount of women to men. This patterns can also be seen in Africa going back from dot.
This is not about men this or women that it is about how we have been genetically designed. Everybody knows in terms of child mortatily more males die at prenatal stage than females, blame god because that is the mechanism by which our race survives and reproduces ourselves by ensuring male producers have more than enough females to reproduce with. This why scientist have always said the female of the specicies are genetically superior than the males because it has to be or humanity could not survive.
When you key in the factors mentioned by SBlitz caused by racism and exclusion and all those social issues it reduces the supply even more. In fact Professor Julius Wilson says the economic blow to African-Family males and unskilled males is the real killing factor which weakens anything up to a third of all African-American males and the sister says explaiins the collapse in marriage and familal stability. Men who are stable marry and that is a general rule. Men who are stable disproportionately support their kids and seek to be good fathers.
This means black women who are rooted in their culture and a whole heap are, who have no use or purpose for white men, beause if you are not so inclined that is a very difficult transition to make, have to. Those who are other wise inclined I suggest that is their business. The thing is these are the ones who are more likely lack understanding of any serious issues and more likely to be dissing black people while boosting whites.
Black men have no real need to get upset by black women with white men other of course them supporting the enemy agenda which of course we will not accept. Go and go peacefully.
Any arugment which seeks to equate demographic behaviour of males with females is foolish as they are based on fundamentally different things in too many important intances. There are more women for a start so the options are different. The survival and development of African-Americans does not hang on the number of black men with white women, but the number of available females with males.
I am sorry to say these are ugly fact which we simply cannot get around which is why the sister Professor says black women and people have to radically change the way they view the family and relationships and their primary purpose which is the produce healthy children and not any western romantic notion rooted in Gone with the Wind. It also slaps in the face some of my own thinking.
Equally ladies, really need to understand that many if not the majority of black men who go with white and foreign women you should be glad, because they do not identify with black people and women even less. I have worked around many coconut professional black women and as god is my witness I would probably get more hot (wrong word) around a man than them. They do absolutely nothing because their cultural centre is missing. They don't even look very attractive because they don't have the black woman pyschology which flavours our women so sweetly.
So if you are vex over the Trevor MacDonalds and them kind of guys know matter how good you think they may look, it says more about you. And I suggest stop making noise and find yourself a white man even though that is when you will no what stress is about because you enter a new world and one which can be even lonlier or isolating. There is a study by a sister in Holland and has many professional black women who are married to white men. Boy they take stress trust me from all sides with no umbrella in sight.
There is another wicked study by a sister Professor in the US from the continent about prostitution in the Caribbean or particular parts which shows most Caribbean men who use them see white women, then Latino types as occupying the top of the sexual desirability pryamid and earing the most money and African women at the bottom doing the real rough shifts. Conclusion, the effects of slavery brainwashing and self-hate is alive and kicking in a section of black men.
Look at all those hip-hop artists who make films who frankly make me sick. Look how many bueatiful black women you see in the US and every one of those films with no exception always has some Latino as the lead love interest. Same shit. We should make this a political issue if you ask me.
But the issue is if they have such a deep inferiority complex who can really help them and would we want to, I have no idea.
But it does mean this is a very serious issue and we have to be serious in how we deal with it or we will be hear ten years time and in the same spot when we need to move on.
In this country one third of all African-Caribbean males are married to whites and they tend to be those who are most well-off and educated etc. Nevermind them man on road who have their versions of white ghetto wanna be women.
