Maybe if black men werent encouraging some of these whales they would get up off their big fat asses and go lose that ugly fat,.....for too long black men has fed the myth to black women that fat is sexy,...it isnt,...it`s unhealthy,it`s ugly, and it`s very unattractive.
there are some women that look pretty good with a bit of weight, but there`s a certain line that once crossed is way past looking sexy,..it`s obese,..even girls with massive fat arses sticking out their jeans like they are hiding the rock of gibraltar under there seems to think that black men find that kind of thing sexy,..some black men may,..but I certainly dont,....go to a gym, stop eating,..lose the fat,..it`s not sexy,..it`s horrid.

I like women with meat on them but 300lbs? NO NO NO NO NO
Seriously...
NO
Humans in general are not supposed to weigh 300lbs FFS!! That's heavier than Lennox Lewis at his prime.
There is a HUGE differance between a thick woman and a FAT OBESE person. That should be obvious.

You know breaking any habit whether it's eating too much or not enough is hard to do. Think about the last time you tried to break a habit. I bet that no matter how small it was it wasn't easy to do. Have you ever had a tooth pulled out? If so, did you notice how your tongue kept going to that spot where the tooth was no matter how hard you tried to stop yourself from doing it? That was your tongue trying to remap that area and it took it a long time to get used to that change. You can't just expect someone who hasn't exercised in years to just get up all of the sudden and go to the gym. These things can take months, even years for your mind to get used to it. Don't be so hard on fat people. Attitude like yours only makes things worst for these people, they need support, not insults.

I disagree. I think we have done the "understanding" and indulgence thing for far too long. They need good old fashioned shaming and stigma. To know and appreciate that being fat is not to be tolerated... it is unsighltly, unhealthy and just horrid in general.

mmmm
...
to interject a whole diff aspect...
some people are very genectically predisposed to being fat....
switch it in reverse....
for the normal average person.. would u like someone who finds it easy to be in shape...
to hurl abuse at u...
....ok....
im not takin sides but im sayin... not all fat people are pigs... some just eat normal quantiteis.. like u or me... but their genetics... dictate the bf% they carry...
and even with excersise... they still will be plump....
short of starving themselves...
life is short.... imagine spending ur short years starvin yoursef.... just to look like what society deems sexy... which is by the way like ... jenifer lopez... mariah carey.. etc etc...
and they have to work their ass off to look like that....
...
this is not to say i condone or lfind overly obese women attractive..
u do have some people who pig out too much.. and are fat because they are .. dyam craven...
but when discussin a sensitive topic like this you have to... make a disctinction between the two... and not tar everybody with the same brush...
...
mmmm
well thats what i thnnk anyway...
...carl...
There can only be... one...

Black_ power,
And in general, we shouldn't. Everytime, I look on the news they always want to make it seem that overweight people are alien species or something. I'm not fat, but I'm what some guys would call a voluputous woman,Not fat not skinny. I remembered that as a child, how my paternal grandmother would make it seem that somwthing was wrong with it. Everybody had to weight under 120lbs. She was more concerned about weight for cosmetic reasons than health reasons.
When you say that it's sad for Black men to love bigger women, What is sad that like my grandmother, you're more worried ( seemingly) about the image about them then what makes them truly great people. The destruction isn't about their weight, the destruction comes when people telling them there is somethng worng with them because of who they are. When it comes to healthy, you have to define it because for some odd reason, we always think that healthy is a skinny person WRONG!!! Just recently, I've learned something interesting about the true defintion of healthy people. About 6 months ago, I was looking at something on theDISCOVERY channel On eof the reporters interviewed a 350lbs man. Do you want to know the interesting fact about this man? He was in his 30-40's, but so far , he was never diagonosed with cancer, high blood pressure or diabetes--diseases that are associated with being obese. In my family, my younger sister had a defective heart valve( which she didn't find out until she was 18), my father is diabetic and I have a young cousin who at age 14 is a diabetic and has high blood pressure. Do you want to know what all three of them have in common? They are all skinny people and do you want to know how they got their aliments? My sister was born with her problem, my father drunk too much alcohol and my cousin at too much junk, drunk too many soda and barely drunk and ate right. Far as the 350lbs man, doctors think that he's healthy because 1 he eats right, drink right and he tried to live a stress free life. The more I think about it, I think food more than the size of person is why some people develop these problems.
Even worse, we're going to mentally destroy people with this kind of thinking. I'll confess becausae of my grandmother, I almost came close to killing my crazy self because of anorexia because I wanted to "LOOK GOOD" for society. There is something else that people should learn about being fat/skinny. Just because somebody get smaller don't mean they look good in their new bodies. Some people don't consider their body frame. Just like me, I lost a lot of weight at one point, but it didn't look good because I'm big boned. I had my doctor to tell me that they older people get and depending on their body frame, everybody should try to get too think because it may not look right on them and secondly, and mostly because oddly, it can create another health crisis for you.
I don't know about you but we shouldn't make overweight people feel bad because of who they are, nor should be discriminatory about health. everybody whether healthy or skinny should want to be healthy. You hear on the news about how some of the most healthies smallest people end up falling out and dying for no understandable reason. Another thing, overweight doesn't always have to come from food. Some people get big because of their medication( eg Birth control, asthma medication, etc), of their condition like having a hyperthyridal problem, post-surgery, pregnancy etc, there are a million and one things that can make you overweight besides food.
That last thing that I learned about society we're in love with fiction. We love the way people look and not them as human beings. We think that the man/woman we get are going to look like Boris Kodjoe and Beyonce for the rest of their lives. Now how many of us can say that we're( even they) are going to look like that years later or even in the near future?( Speaking of Beyonce, many men consider her to be sexy, but she's full figured and she' prone to get big). I would rather for man to love me first than my body second because we never know how things may " look" in our future.

iI would take it a step futher than what you're talking about......these unhealthy eating and lifestyle habits go back generations...and it's only recently that real information about nutrition and the link between this lifestyle and our health problems as a community have been genrally known.
You say it's hard for person who has been having a certain lifelong habit to break it? well ho wabout a family long habit? seeing their entire family practice the same lifestyle.......grandmama, mama, siblings, etc...
Makes it even harder to break because they've been surrounded their entire lives by people who eat and act the exact same way..it's normal for them....
Don't know about other countires..but lots of Americans are overweight....and unfortunately disproportionate number of Africans living in america are overweight and obese...

CEE CEE,
no disrespect ,but stop making excuses...
the extra weight, the eating habits , the lack of excercise make it more likely that person will develop health problems.
don't pull one random case of 350 pound man who has NOT developed health issues to base your case on.
Women make these excuses for not getting healthier.....and it's all old....
nobody has to fit any physical criteria except their own..BUT.....people should take their health and well being seriously....and if weight or eating habits put you in danger of health problems down the line.... you can't 'excuse/justify' your way out of that.

Shaming and stigma won't help anybody to lose weight. Did teasing and isolating that fat kid in class ever make him lose weight? No. It just drove him more into a state of depression and insecurity. It's this shaming and stigma which causes these kids to skip gym class because they're afraid that everyone will stare and make fun of them when they can't run as fast or do all the other things that the skinny kids are able to do.
This is the same with older women. My best friend has been trying to lose weight her whole life. She has strict Indian parents who have done everything from trying to starve her, beating her, insulting her, you name it, they have done it. And you know what none of that ever helped. All it did was destroy her selfesteem and make her feel worthless.
After four months of talking to her and trying to build her self-esteem, she went out and got some boxing tapes on her own and now, without anyone nagging at her, she exercises three days a week. She's lost a lot of weight, she's happier and what more she did it because she finally learned to believe in herself. And this is something that 20 years of her parents harsh treatment of her could never do.
Contrary to popular believe fat people do get a lot of shaming and stigma, but never enough support.
By support, I'm not saying that we lie to them and tell them that they're fine just the way they are. To be support means that you have to be encouraging. It means that at first you praise them for doing little things like going out and buying a gym bag, then signing up for a gym membership or making a workout schedule. Then move on to encouraging them when they go to their first class. Then for when they manage to go two or three times a week. Then for when they can keep this up forlike a month. Then two months, pretty soon this will become a part of their daily routin and they won't need that support system any more. They'll do it because it makes them feel good.

i agree with the general tone of this thread. like it or not obesity is a disease that has a hold on society. the more we ignore it and pretend its not there the worse it gets.
but i do not agree with teasing, stigmatising and victimising obese people. but we must stop glamourising and stop the back slapping, because as much as the teasing doesnt help...the false glorification doesnt help either.
there is a huge difference between being thick and being obese.
