I was at new work placerecently, whenI noticed a list of people as part of a contact list...read the list as you do..I saw the name of a man (whom) i know to be African/Black.. with a Double Barrelled name. When I equired furtherI found out that this man when he got married to the WIFES name..(oh yes) and linked it to his making it double barrelled...

My first thoughts upon hearing this was..WTF!!! am i bad for thinking this man is pussywhipped.. As far as I'm concerned I'm a traditionalist, when one gets married the wife takes the mans family name...call me old fashioned but thats how its supposed to be..failing that the wife KEEPS her own name, but none of this namby pamby stupidness where the man takes the wifes name...what!!!

Now i' not going to be horrible about the wife of this man, however I will state that she is NOT African ok... So i did wonder if this man would have made the same decision if she had been I suspect not...but i won't go there....

He's a pu$$y and he's whipped, simple!!From personal experience this wasn't an issue for us anyway like most couples and if it was, then marriage wasn't gonna take place, simple as that! Saying that I'm not surprised about this gentleman from your minute description.

However, I think he probably did this as a means to have a European last name more than anything else. Wish my husband would take mylast AND myfirst nameif I get married.

in Islam the wife can keep her name........and many do.......including african muslims

but in his case, since it is obvious he aint muslim......i would say he did it to have an english surnmae. Just like in the case of an eastern european i know, she has divorced her english husband two years but still kept her english souding husband name.

my mum kept her own name, my dad kept his own
