I think it's definitely true. I probably talk most to my two brothers (who live in London), and parent about stuff. And sad sounding or not. I went probably almost 4 years without any friends. I mean that no serious contact with anyone around my age and very little contact with anyone at all.

When it comes to problem solving i'm in two minds about it, but I think it alot of cases you'd be better off using an organisation that has the skills and techniques to help you solve things. I work for a charity and we're bound by the usual confidentiality clauses. The techniques we use are actually everyday skills, just formalised and structured a little more to offer consistient professional advice.

But yeah it sounds really sad, but this is very common. Like I mentioned just because of where I work and the type of groups and people I encounter I know this is quite widespread. I'm not even on the problem solving end but I still see it.

Boi, they must talking about White people , cause for a fact black people have FRIENDS, any age, any gender, you go anywhere you seem them in packs.

okay fair enough, once older then your priorties do change ie career, family etc HOWEVER the phone list is their and black people sure nuff use it.

also black people have family as friends, most of my friends are cousins, so i guess technically they are not friends but family.

nah only white people die for 2 weeks without no one knowing!

Real Talk.

But I do have only 2 friends that I can share my closest secrets the rest is just company. We travel in packs wherever we go. Most of my friends are friends I've had from High School up to college.

But that's what the article said. Yeah you might know 700 people but how many pass the truth test? Those you would indeed share your deepest secrets with.

Yeah but these aren't just 750 acquaintences. I consider them close friends I can confide in to a certain extent. I mean who says I have to tell all my secrets to all my friends? Thats how drama in friendships are sparked in the first place. Been down that road before. Thats why I'm down to the latter two I mentioned above. I have best friends then I have close friends.

Now are Deep secrets the only thing that define close friendships? There are other factors to consider like time spent together. You can spend yours knowing a person w/o telling him/her a deep secret. Then again what someone else defines as a secret may not be a secret to another.
