The term prostitution refers to the act of having sexual intercourse or performing other sexual acts explicitly for material compensation—normally money, but also other forms of property, including drugs, expensive clothing, jewelery, or real estate.

If we wanted to split hairs you could say the definition of prostitution boils down to whether you got the sex first before you parted with the payment - too subtle difference to make make a difference perhaps.

I feel prostitution should be decriminalized, legalized and taxed. This goes for women or men prostitutuion. If consenting adults want to participate and profit from this then I don't see a problem with legalizing it. As long as you do weekly test for venereal diseases and like Amsterdam or anonomously men and women who prositute should pay taxes and receive health insurance. Whether we all like it or not prostitution has been around for hundreds of centuries and even making it illegal or disgusting to some like doing drugs it will still continue behind doors for some.

The problem with prositution is that the majority of women are not consenting adults and if its legalize it be harder to prove consent.

If there weren't men who wanted sex without commitment, would there be any prostitutes?

Yes, indeed...sad. Just goes to show what people will accept in the effort to "survive". I think it's a sad commentary on men that many of us will exploit the vulnerability of women for selfish (sexual) benefit. What kind of future can we expect to produce from women who are treated like dirty rags?

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad once told us that the level of civilization of any society is determined by the condition and status (treatment)...not of the Man...but of the WOMAN.

don't quote the hollow words of Elijah Muhammad about the treatment of women..it's known fact that he spoke one thing in public..and had several affairs behind closed doors....while he was married.

That kind of hypocrisy, ultimately, is the kind of stuff that today's adults dealt with from their parents......and you see the effects today.
