white people have made a mess.
At first I was confused about the level of Indian/Asian complexion complex because to my knowledge they didn't have near the history with whites and white colonization as Africans and diasporics have, but then I think about it and didn't whites have an association with fair skin being an indication of high class?

Are there any other groups of people other than Asians and blacks who's societies experience colorism? I've only recently (in the last few years) become aware of colorism in Asian society and that blew my mind because at least a part of me could understand colorism in African Americans and even European-colonized African countries where rights were granted only to white people, priviledges given to light people, and blacks, historically, got the short end of the stick both during and after slavery.

@Afriki
As i always say when YT people do things they strategize for hundreds of years the modus operandi is to profit or cause divisive destructive element for a very long time...not only was Colorism Elitist but was divisive and very damaging they used all sorts of tactics to cause mayham and destruction amongst people of colour...you see ethnicities trying to kill each other then you get the intra-hatred within most ethnicities and YT people just lay back and observe the destruction from afar....one of the by products is fair skin and hair which most times go hand in hand..only now it has reached catastrophic proportions...having said all that you would think we should be more aware and take responsibility for our actions well you and i know what the answer to that is....

It is bad enough that you used the word "francophone", but your analysis is actually wrong, the bleaching is just evenly spread out through the continent. Although Congo does tend to stand out(mostly because they are everywhere and the stupid music is everywhere) just as many other African men do it, they just hide behind their pathetic excuses of (for example)i am an Igbo were are fair blahh blah excuses.

It is actually this so called "francophone" countries that are doing a lot to stop this bleaching madness....Senegal and the Gambia banned the sale of all bleaching creams, but are having a hard time stoping the influx of these products coming in from Nigeria and some from Congo.

Another thing, it's only in the west that Africans indentify light skinned men with feminity, back in the continent, ladies looooveee their light skinned men, and since i've been here, so do Continetal Carribens(thats what i've noticed anyways)
Its no wonder the poor(sic)men are bleaching, reducing themselves to look like Moroccan monkeys!

Mezmerized, yes I stand corrected about Congo being in West Africa, however my point remains. I wouldn't say that male bleaching is evenly distributed, from what I have seen. I have hardly seen any Senegalese men who are bleached, or men from Mali etc. I would even say Ghanaian men either.....women yes, but not really the men, not to say it doesn't happen at all, i can only say what I have seen. I have not come across many East African men who Bleach.....ethiopia, Somalia or even Southern Africans to be honest with you. I tend to see it with West African men, especially Nigerians, central African Congolese men moreso ....just like you pointed out because it tends to stand out with them, when it comes to male bleaching.

Whether countries are trying to stop the importation of bleaching creams, thats fine, but I dont think that is under discussion, however their citizens are still using it. When we talk of males using it rather than women, I dont think it tallies the same way across the continent to be honest.

WHen I first moved to the South, one of my cousins was talking about Genuwine and saying she didn't like him because of the "pretty boy" light skinned look and thought he was gay. She said she liked D'angelo. I told her, I'd bet my next paycheck, that you would catch D'ANGELO' in bed with a dude before you would, Genuwine, I don't care how much baby hair G has combed down, lol. D'angelo and Treach have the quintessential homo thug look to them,(not saying that either of them are, just saying that they way more fit the profile than G does,in my experience. Gay men LOVE the homo thug look, pant's sagging, rough and rugged STRAIGHT LOOK on a man. MOst gay men don't like the pretty look on a man, that' more something young girls dig. I'm telling ya'll what I know.......

your right..lol white men and european whitewomen love these sterotypical darker than dark.. look the (homo) whitemen i mean. but that being said i think real men should look like djimon honsou and tyrese etc. because that dark skin signifies durability. take these massai people of kenya. they go throught the harsh sun of africa everyday and still have pretty skin a light skinned person would come out looking like burnt toast. in sickness these dark skinned people still got nice colours. for all the starvation and all in some parts of africa these kids still got beautiful skin, id like to see your lite skinned boys survive that kinda life. they comout looking like beasts.
like everything in life the main thing that matters should be durability cos durability is beauty. a benz-convertable pretty mercedes. is all it is..pretty but not practical like a cherokee jeep.

im browned skined my self..like say an (anelka) and sometimes i wished my skinn was darker. far from my old self back in high-school in west frica, when the women used to love light skin men(mixedrace dude) me and my friends would be pissed why they gave those guys more attention shit i came to uk and it was worse lol.. looking back now i saw that they were brain-washed ******s.

Their music is great and the origins of the music are also the origins for other music genres like Samba and Cuban Rumba.

Im sorry but NO light skin doesnt signify feminity anymore than dark skin signifies masculinity. You are brainwashed if you believe that. And its pathetic for black people to attack each other over things like this, stop being a puppet to white people, i think we entertain them enough already without adding this colorism bullocks to the mix. Jeeze they still don't want you no matter how light your skin is- your still not one of them!
you men up in here are FOOLS if you think that a "real man" is dark skinned, you damn haters, don't be mad cus you feel that a light skinned man has got more attention than you, especially if you know the history behind it- its all a farce, designed to blind us so why fall for this shit? and if you yourself have co-signed with the eurocentric/light skin worship you're even worse. Best be careful you side talkers don't end up with light son's who aren't dark like "real men"
I guess fetishising pale skin is only allowed when worn on women, cos when its flipped and the one who is not light and right is your black ass instead of hers you'll think about it and see how fukked up this is, and you don't like it. SO WAKE UP
Get a grip, men do not need to bleach to please anyone nor do they need to seperate themselves from another man because of his tone. All of this light skin dark skin devide vexes me to the highest. So can we please just stop

I see that BP is still raising havoc around here. I assume real Men are supposed to be like the "Shaka Zulu" type Negroes. And before anyone complains, the Shaka Zulu type can be any shade of black but with the physique. But then again, is there anything such as what real men are supposed to look like?
