Default Why do women talk so much? - 29-04-08, 03:51 PM

I mean I made the mistake of phoning on my lunch break and I'm still on the phone as I'm typing this.... there has to be some kind of faculty, an extra organ women have allowing them to talk so much.... see now us guys are straight and to the point, ''yeah, whats up, cool, check you later, Peace'' done, it doesn't need to be a 2.5 hour conversation about the council and wha gwan with this and that, can't hang up cause they're doing this but shes done that and then theres this oh yeah, and that and...

Seriously, its weird... has to be an explanation for it, or at least a series of injections to prevent it... modern science has only come so far it seems. Not going to think about the phone bill.

We absorb more information and details than you menfolk. We have to purge or our brains will explode.

lol, this reminds me of that bit Wanda Sykes did where she talked about how women keep themselves up at night because they can't stop thinking, then they try to talk to the man who's already asleep about what's on their mind at 3am.

I used to chatter to my ex on and on then ask him what he thought. He would pass gas, loudly, as his answer, to both let me know he didn't care and was finished with the conversation, and to get me out of the room.

Yeah, I don't have that gene. Some of my friends annoy me when i call them to say one thing and end up on the phone for an hour. Thank god for bluetooth, I can let them rabbit on whilst i get on with housework just adding 'really' 'WHAT' and 'Don't Lie' whenever needed.

Its like being bombarded thats the thing, was happy chilling with my food one second, an hour and a half later I'm drained and still hungry... so what is it? Are we being confided in here? Or will any one do, it just so happens that we're there ready for an ear bashing..?

More importantly, is it avoidable without breaking any implied code of confidence? Or do we ''have to'' listen? I mean it must be obvious we're not interested you have pick up on that if you pick up on information and details more so than we do, agree with that one, interesting as its actually in marketing, if you notice most products are advertised toward women for the same reason.

Talking 30-04-08, 02:40 PM

Communication is the lifeblood of all relationships.

We talk to explain our feelings. We talk to make sense of our pain and other experiences. We talk to explain who we are. We talk for a reason, a purpose. But some of us talk because we think our opinions are the best or because we are self opinionated.
Like everything else there is a balance and a fine art between conversation and being over-baring.

.. and some talk because they like the sound of their own voice..... Honestly, I have one 'friend' who will call me 3 times a week, tell me everything she has done, and everything her friends, their sisters and their husbands have done, but she couldn't tell you where I work or how old my kids are.

I'm not sure if she just likes to chat, has nothing else to do, or no one else to talk to why she calls me so often but i try to be a good listener anyway!

I do like to talk sometimes but I don't do the phone thing. My girlfriends know not to call me and have me on the phone for hours talking nonsense. My best friend though, if I let her she would be calling me every hour on the hour to chat about the same things over and over again. So yeah, some of us women like to talk a lot. I don't know why.

My best friend is exactly like that. One time I had to tell her to put everything she wanted to tell me into a "mental folder" then call me ONE time to tell me all about it. I had to put it like that because girl would call me 10x a day for every thought that popped into her head.

I'm not a phone chatter. There's maybe 3 people that I answer my phone for more often than not. The others have to wait until I'm in the mood to call them back.

I know that is is obvious to my wife that I am not interested. I could care less about talking about clothes or what someone said to her or how they looked at her.

I made a big mistake one day when she was talking at light speed, jumping from topic to topic never completely finishing one.

I said to her "dayum, you talk alot. Is it possible for you to finish a thought before going onto the next topic".

Big mistake Indy, sista girl blew a gasket. At least it was quiet for the rest of that day.

Hmmm, me thinks some ladies here are telling tales.......

Anyways, i am not ashamed to say that i am a chatter box...with my boyfriend that is. I don't really speak a lot with other people, but with him i just ramble on about all sorts. Once i was rambling on as usual, i went to get something in the kitchen and heard the front door locked. When i came back in the leaving room, he was gone.....a few minutes later, he text to say he wanted some peace and quiet and that i shouldn't wait up! Haaaa

When he came back later, i just carried on talking from where i left off...lol
