At the tube station TODAY (21st century) queuing for tickets. A white woman decided she didn't want to queue because "she was in a hurry."
Out of all the people standing there she came to me and a black man wanting to go before US. He was accommodating. I told her she wasn't the only one in a hurry and to get to the back of the queue. She pleaded with him. I reminded her that she was NOT better than us. He said to me about her having a lot of bags. I told him she was NOT standing in front of ME.
Guess what he did? Cussed ME as he was going RIGHT TO THE BACK of the queue leaving her where he was standing...near the front. She didn't even thank him.

Some of us will never learn!!!

Bea - there is a saying that black man will never know themselves until their backs are against the wall. believe it or not I gained some comfort in seeing this as worse case scenario but the older I get the more I realize for the majority we will never even know ourselves then.

Obviously still a slave, and full of self-hatred. (as many black men in this country seem to be) Many seem to think that anything 'white' is better. It's so embarrassing, seeing our men with so little self respect, some even hating black women with an unnatural hatred that would make any member of the BNP proud.

what in the hell did this have to do with race ?

THE SAME situation can apply and happen anywhere regardless of whomever... that woman could have been a mother rushing to get her kids and just having a hard day, now I'm not saying that you were not either and you have every right to object being reasonable circumstances... The banter was about the queue and someone needing of course to get somewhere a little urgent than others....

If your going to be so cold and isolated about another persons emotions or feelings because of race or any other human trait, then you don't see or understand how you are blocking out your own human compassion over the most minor and unnessecary things..... People are just cold and cruel and against another human being who had done nothing to you but just cause of the color of her skin... it's wrong and yes WHITE PEOPLE are worst for this and they do bad alot worst but to be honest, your reasoning for not allowing the woman to jump ahead is cold and cruel... if you had just said 'i'm busy, and i'm sorry i'm in a rush' but at the back of your mind it seemed a more racial motive for your action

You're wrong. If the woman comes to ask if she can skip the queue, she may expect a negative answer. Those are the risks of asking a favor from a perfect stranger. It is not cruel or cold.

So what if her reasons for refusing are racially motivated?
It is sensible to be wary of white people and their requests in general. The way people are viewed, respected or treated is most often dictated by race in this society. Black people did not invent this, but we cannot help but react to it.

I would have let her in but she would have had to pay me.

Stuff like this gets me angry. If I was there I would have cuss off the 'brotha' big time for even starting on a sista for rightfully asserting herself when it was appropriate.

Here is another slant to this argument.

I was on the Euro Star train returning back from a trip to Europe. When i went in to get my meal on the train. Now there was a very long queue and this sister came to meet me being the only black on the queue just as i was about to be served and requested if she go stand in front instead. Naturally, if this was a request from a white person i would have said point blank NO.

As it was a sister and i saw she had some young kids about i said sure. You should have seen the face of the rest of the YTs they were no happy,that she had been allowed to jump queue,but i couldn't care.


Now here comes the problem. First i did not get a thank you!!!. (Now i wasn't leering at her either).c'mon a smile wouuld not have gone amiss to a brother in this situation.Now the lady got to the till to order and made an issue, first she was unsure what to order!, when she ordered, she changed her mind, then cancelled and re-odered, then she got her change, then proceeded to count it slowly, protesting that the change was no good in UK , do they have change in £!!! c'mon you are in Europe you moron!after leaving she cussed the waitress for not having change in £. ! all this whilst wasting at least an extra 10-15mins of every ones time.

Now words could not express how i felt in this instance as this sista took the absolute piss with my generosity! The fact of the matter is each situation is unique. One can only hope that each black person knows what it means to be black and acts accordingly so in today's society.More importantly each black being civil and cordial with another especially in public.Regardless of gender.

I remember being forced to jump a long queue at a supermarket in Lewisham when i remembered i did not turn the cooker off! Now it was a white lady there and on that day i was truly greatful that she let go ahead of her.... all this by a simple request without any need to grovel and what not.

Racism still exist and is encoded genetically in all whites! But one has to live life as a humanbeing . Its a tough one peeps. Will i let a white person go infront of me? Highly unlikely lol. But if the scenario merits it then yes.

However, i wouldn't be standing in for anyone taking the PISS with my generosity!!!

Had the same experience a couple of years back, the woman took the piss and then some. at the end of the day she was not even human enough to understand what she had done. and apologies to the line. She just walks on kissing her teeth as she passed the long line!

Good thing about crazy folk is they advertise loudly who they are and can't hide it....
