One thing that always intrigues me about this website is that there some downright insightful Black people on here. I'm not just saying this because a great deal of us on here are Black or because I enjoy this website a great deal, but I'm always learning something new about people , culture etcon it or being reminded of history in some way. It's like I'm in some ways going to the Auburn Research Library( a great library to do some research about Black people in Atlanta) or the APEX museum, only it's neither.Keep those facts coming.I haveno kids, but I have three nephews. They can learn something new, besides the Black history we are already to familiar with.

@Alright you slackers. Going to be more fairer on the largest slave conspiracy question. LadyDay's instincts were in the right direction but this has a twist in the tail of the questio because I know you guys know enough about our history on a general level and would yam it up that quickly.

OK largest conspiracy does not mean covering the largest territory, even though that is a reasonable conclusion. Even if that was the case Haiti would not apply. The Hatian revolution was basically in three parts and centred around three regions with Martinique being one and France and England the other, at the heart of phase one.

It definitely would not be in Jamaica the largest "English" speaking island, because every person from "yard" would know that by the time they are 2 years old and no doubt run it on us too[Smile].

When I say largest dear Commanders, I mean largest one coordinated act under centralised command to do in the "bakra" in one swift move.confused3The African "night of the long knives", or machettes in our parts.

@Cee. I know your post was not directed to me, but have to comment. History is one of the basic materials in developing civilisation and people. I personally belive if you had only a few disciplines to teach a child apart from reading writing effective communication, writing and thinking. Along with maths, history will do. Need very little after that.

From the history of ideas, to defining events, history of technology and innovation and almost everything that defines every major discipline or event or future direction has a historical root and dimension. Never mind things like identity and cultural development, affilliation and many others.

Simple examples of silly facts, The neg marron in Martinique in particular where great technologists and like their Maroon counterparts in Northern Jamaica use to make bullets using plantain stems. Black men were not allowed to make iron or their own implements. Why because the AFrican was a wicked technologist and would make guns.

My grandfather made metal and other implements for our people or from other regions. He is Neg marron and owned his own smelt and thenmill in a liberated territory. Whites made sure our people were not allowed to work in blacksmiths or them areas. Even the materials they mixed to make sugar mills, a special lime mix our people were never allowed to know how to make. Trade secret.

Hence why so many from these origins[Neg Marrron]are good engineers and techically related skills. The best gun manufacturers in the Caribbean are neg Marron from a particular region of Martiinique. You name it they can make it and equal if not superior specificiation and reliability. A bit like the Afghans.

So I am glad that you like I revel in history and its importance and LadyDAy and others have seen it fit to create this thread.

By the way I totally agree with you. People act as if we are at the end or our historical understanding, not the begining. A lot of so called popular history is old regurgitated stuff, as if our history is known, when most of it has not been written. So I am committed to putting and bringing new facts to light.

By the way I am involved in an academic project involved in bringing a whole heap of new primary data, or information about specific parts of the Caribbean to light. The powers that be are realising what some of us have been telling them long long time. Had to make a big presentation about the importance of this stuff to economic, educational and cultural/technical development to the region. They are a bit slow but not daft and are on song now.

So I will boring people with new facts and stuff. So watch this space. Oh by the way the largest slave conspiracy question came out of some of the premilimanry work we had to do, to justiify the full blown project.
