Is it because you are not welcomed by other people(and africa(ns) is/are your last resort)or is it because you truly deeply love africa and its natives.

What made me interested in Africans and Africa......

I think for me it was growing up at the Tail end of the American Black power movement, being taught that Black was beautiful and learning that our history entailed more than being slaves and caribbean, South and North American shores.

It is not a desire to be accepted (I really don't give a damn) but it is acknowledging a link and bringing about justice and social parity. I'm a social science person so culture, cultural dynamics, sociology and social psychology are my fields of interest. One of the most alluring things about the African experience, culture and politics is the immenseness of the diversity that exists in the Blacks of this planet. There is always something interesting and unusual from the American perspective to be learned.

In regards to the women....

As a guy I am naturally attracted to all women but Black women hold the key to my desire. Like Black American women Africans are like Ice cream, so many flavors that you will always find that sweet spot.

The guys....

Most are cool depending on their socio-economic status. The camraderie is commendable in many cases that aren't over shadowed by ethnocentric stupidity and dishonesty.

In America this statement is a bit of a nonfactor because of the make up and location of the population. In my lifetime the only group other than whitey that has consistently insulted my Black being is Africans for reasons of cultural interpretations, a whacked out view of history or something else. I know Africa is a continent of 50 plus nations and 1,000 ethnicities but I've had my fair share of encounters with specific groups that I can name if need be.

In fact a Black person could refuse to have any dealings with Africa and Africans and go their whole life like this and be successful in that endeavor. Although Racist, American Culture allows for one to hang out with nothing but Orientals, Latinos, Europeans and East Indians if they wish. Generally if A Black American who grows up leanring only the worse about Africa joins a Pan-African group, takes an African studies course or Petitions the IMF/World Bank for fairer lending practices it is to fit in, it is more authentic interest as opposed to shelter.

As for deep love??????? Not sure about deep love. That seems like a naive way to look at it because the minute you have a disagreement that causes division, does that love become hatred?

It is not a desire to be accepted (I really don't give a damn) that's cold (Cold indeed but you can't walk around living a life looking for approval, the world is hyper competitive and when you walk around insecure you are open for exploitation. Now imagine if I was looking for approval in regards to my posting information on Slavery my posts would be dishonest and conformist, the truth is often cold.)but it is acknowledging a link and bringing about justice and social parity.

(It is usually ethnocentric a$$holes who come to see Blacks living and striving for the same things with a divisive eye. If you and I work for the same white man, earn the same pay wage and live in similar circumstances does ones ethnicity really matter in the scheme of things? Some people are cool but draw an imaginary line regarding issues like friendships, relationships and business matters because of ethnic jibber-jabber.)

In America this statement is a bit of a nonfactor because of the make up and location of the population. In my lifetime the only group other than whitey that has consistently insulted my Black being is Africans for reasons of cultural interpretations, a whacked out view of history or something else.elaborate (The only group of people other than whites who have personally insulted my Black inetgrity has been Africans, not everyone I have met but a good percentage. This notion of Black Americans not having a Culture, this attempt to degrade Black Americans with this slave talk and these simple yet demeaning titles. This I find really insulting because I constantly study history, I know that while Blacks were taken as slaves to the Americas that Africans were slaves to other Africans and also Servants to European Masters on African Soil. I know the Story of Cecil Rhodes, King Leopold, the German invasion of Africa, English practices of killing elders and converting the Youth, the Prominence of the gattling Gun vs inferior rifles and Spears, the french, Arab, Dutch and Spanish conquests of Africans on African soils. I know that in many African countries that many last names speak of the former servitude status and more. It is disrespectful when College Students, Diplomats and other Continental Nationals come to fund raisers and make stupid comments without knowing their own history.)I know Africa is a continent of 50 plus nations and 1,000 ethnicities but I've had my fair share of encounters with specific groups that I can name if need be. name them (Mande, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Ewe, Somali, Xhosa, Kikuyu, Berbers, and the list can go on and on but these are the groups they have represented, the major offenders have been Nigerian though.)

As for deep love??????? Not sure about deep love. That seems like a naive way to look at it because the minute you have a disagreement that causes division, does that love become hatred? not necessarily

I hope this was elaborate enough for you.-Masai

I personally don't hold any animosity but from quite a few bad experiences I do notice a Pattern based on the Groups. One of the reasons being they tend to be the most numerous group abroad so for many their only experiences are based off of them. I have a few really close Nigerian friends but occasionally we butt heads but in the end Intelligence prevails and at the end of the day things are cool.
