A very interesting thread. The Nuba wrestling looks sort of like Greco-Roman wrestling. It would be cool if someone taught Nuba wrestling, it looks fun.

I don't know about black people dominating martial arts. I know you said the Kyokushin guy said that, but tbh it is a racist idea. They used to say that about boxing, but now the eastern europeans run tings. In MMA the best ppl at the moment are the japanese with Gomi, Kid Yamamoto, Sakuraba, Genki Sudo, Aoki etc.

Out of curiousity what styles do people here train? I train bjj with a bit of mma, and tai chi for relaxation and chi power.

I also have done a bit of Thai boxing, there are a huge numbers of black guys in the thai boxing world, i can tell you from the many thai fights in london my dad has taken me too

Maybe some of these cats will enter the UFC.

There's an African guy from Cameroon that knocked out one of the best MMA fighters in the world at Pride 33 this weekend. And he did in 23 seconds. His name is Sokoudjou apperently he is the African Judo Champion. For a Judo guy he has alot of power in his strikes.

Woh. Im stunned. Those Judo people will not be able to shut up now though. Seriously though it is great he has done well and I saw an interview with him and he is a lovely guy, very humble. If you could get some of these senegalese wrestlers to crosstrain boxing or some stand up and groundfighting you might have more mma fighters from africa.
