It means Africa for Africans those abroad (Diasporans) and those at home. Thats what it means and it is a very simple concept for all enlightened Africans, except for those Africans withdirty minds who see things from a religious, tribal or the different the groupings that Africans fall into. Jamaica is an island,Africa is a continent. Yes Africa is for those Jamaicans,Bajans, African-Americans, Antiguans and all those who want to be part of it.

So if you believe we are all the same then what is the problem? There are also differences between different ethnic groups in Africa.

Askari Wrote:It all comes down to how you define an "African" I guess. What is an African? ----------------------------------------------------------------

An African is a black person of African ancestry. This includes Diasporan Africans since there ancestry is African. Further more, an African is "A person who's predominant phenotype (noticeable characteristics) are indigenous to Africa".

WHAT IF SOMEONE OBJECTS TO BEING CALLED AFRICAN? DO WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO LABEL THEM AFRICAN?

So are North African berbers African, because genetically they were found to be quite closely related to Horn Africans, but portray a white phenotype?

Many Europeans also carry the African E3b gene which comes from the horn of Africa exclusively, they include the Balkan regions and generally through out Europe.

Are they also African?

Because genetically they carry some African genes.

In that case, the whole world is African seeing as that is where humanity started.
Quote:
Of course the berbersmay have the same genes as certain tribes from the horn. I read that certain groups from the horn have very close DNA to people from Yemen, Greece, and parts of the middle east, most likely because of the arab mix. It really doesn't take genetic studyto figure that out though.

LOL, you still visiting thatgenetics message board I see.

Prince_of_Punt1, you really kill me with this E3b gene thing. It seems like every post I open, there you arepossessed talking about E3b geneagain. Do you really know the scientific details behind all this stuffor you are just repeating stuff from thegenetic/caucasian message board of those who called themselves Egyptologists?

Most of the time I chose to remain silent on this E3b stuff but this one really did it. In one previous post talking about E3b you wrongly put the Beja people in the horn which is untrue, but that will be a separate subject to discuss one day.

Well I am only trying to convey how absurd this whole African ethnicity notion is. Because Africa is a very diverse place like all the other continents in this world.

People like you believe that any one with dark brown skin automatically has African ancestory when this is actually really very false. The Papua new Guinea natives may look very much black but are infact related to East asain people like the Chinese, japanese etc

there is no such thing as an African RACE No matter how you, Vabs and co. twist it.

So like Europeans and Asians are all intrinsicly one breed?:?

I get the impression even if we declared the whole world was African we'd still have negro's as the only ones saying they are not:?

Where does your history book begin and end? The original people in East Asia were Blacks who migrated from Africa. The earliest civilizations of ancient India was settled by Ethiopians, and the first dynasties of China were of African origin. Over the years when Indo-Europeans invaded the lands to the south of them in Asia, in the process they created the Semitic type, where Whites/Asiatics/Semiticsdestroyed these original Black civilizations of Asia. To this very day, there are conscious individuals in India and other parts of South-East Asia who still identify ethnically with Africans.

http://www.cwo.com/~lucumi/india2.html

Ancestors of Black Australoids, Pygmies and Melanesians from the Sahara and East Africa migrated to Australia thousands years ago. Melanesians arrived from the coast of East Africa. They establish cultures throughout Asia and are the only homosapiens in the region. Many occupy China, India, and Southeast Asia.

Tiger Woods made known to America that he did not want to be referred to as an "African-American." He wasn't Black. People should keep their mouths closed if they don't know from whence they speak. What Tiger Woods does not mention is that his mother is an admixture of the Negrito from Thailand. The indigenous people from Thailand were Negroes in antiquity--You're still a Negro Mr. Tiger Negrito Woods.

Blood samples of people from east Africa and India showed close genetic similarities indicating a common African ancestor

the Italian study, researchers reported that closely related genetic sequences were found in high frequency blood samples from people in Ethiopia, the Arabian Peninsula and India

The Andaman Islandersshare the same ABO Blood group as people in Somalia
